NVU gauge cluster installation.

I feel compelled to dispel the rumors also; I am the "someone" who approached members here for a group buy. I NEVER took a picture of GNS stuff. Truth is, all instrument cluster products will look similarly due to the limited area one has to place gauges. The true inspiration for all these items is the GNX hands down I dont care what anybody says. The unique feature of the NVU was to have invisible icons for the hi beam, turn signal and all the other symbols. I worked hand in hand and it got very exasperating at times since I also hold a full time job. That being said NVU still offers their gauge package you can find them here:

Steve,

I was around back when you done that, just forgot who it was...Back then I literally had people come to me and tell me that it was a copy of the dash I had in my car at the time and right during that time I came out with the second version of the first dash that another company was doing for us that they failed to complete dash's on time so we shit canned them and the NVU dash's came out.... If you didn't that's great and I apologize but now my dash's are being confused with the NVU dash and with their horror stories of their stuff failing we don't want to have them confused so I am now putting together a used NVU dash out of a customers car and doing a video on the differences...

I am 100% on board with that idea but I would have to have a car here with an NVU dash already installed to see how it was installed and how to convert mine to wire up with as minimal wiring as possible.. Mine are plug n play despite the rumors and if I did a trade in program or a discount I want mine to be able to swap over with minimal effort for the customer..

Scot I believe that Steve is totally blameless and you also for what has happen. I was in that group buy, one of the first to have it install. Took me two weeks, what a mother Fuc..., I didn’t at that time Know that you had started your dash deal. And I told you that years ago at RCG. Now a year and a half go RC had finish my car, and just so happen Eric and Bob were there to install there first GN ECU in my car. They did the tune together on Richards dyno and the NVU speedo stop working, Drove us all nuts trying to figure out why. Never did. Two weeks later I put a GPS speedo in the car with the idea that I was going to get one of your dash’. However you may know or not my Dr’s gave me the long face. So a week later I sold my 13k GN to Bob.Drove it less then 200 miles when I got the car back from Richards. Well I’m still here, There are two Dr’s in my family that were able to get a me in experimental drug trial. That has kept mr alive. Need a transplant. So I think now you know that some of the dash Stuff came from the RCG. Scot hope you do well. Ray

Speedo stopped working .... No way! That don’t happen... lol. I’m sure your gas gauge is spot on as well [emoji23].

I like the NVU dash layout, but I may eventually change out my gauges for Speedhut units.

I too was in on the original NVU buy and one of the first to install. I applaud Steve for his month's long effort to make it happen. As I remember several of us had been looking fora long time for an option and that was the only thing going at the time. It has turned out to be a little disappointing. (not Steve's fault) Gas gauge jumps around and the speedo too until I put in a GPS sender. The Lights: turn signal, check engine light etc. are almost impossible to see during the day.

Scott, I'm frequently on your site and have bought several things from you but there were no dashes shown until long after I had mine installed. Your's seems to be a much superior product but I've only seen it on static display at RC's. I would love to have it but I've gone through several and shelling out another $1500 makes me crazy. AVC which I loved, swapped it for an authentic looking GNX dash sold by Paul Castle, That turned out to be a piece of crap where nothing fit or aligned. Unfortunately I had sold the AVC, and now the NVU, ok but not great. If you're ever at RG's perhaps we could meet and see if a trade in would possible. I'm only an hour from him.

Hi Ray,

I am Very happy to know your still here with us! Me and someone else were just talking about you last week... Yes I remember you coming up to my booth walking with a cane and really upset that a few of the gauges were not working and the company wasn't working with you at all and you told me you would be buying our dash sooner or later... Yes a lot of the rumors about our GNS dash being the same as the NVU dash has came from RCG, if not all of it. I spoke to Richard about it and after numerous explanations it was obvious that he didn't know the difference between the two and will be telling people that ours are not the same from now on, Bob also thought it was our dash and told a friend of mine that just happened to be at RCG to stay away from the GNS dash as it's nothing but troubles so I called Bob once I found out and asked Bob if it said "GNS" on the Tach & Speedometer and he replied No, I told him then it isn't a GNS dash! Every dash is built in house "By Myself" and every dash insert leaves here with GNS on the Tach & Speedometer... I am still hearing rumors that the talk is still going on which is now why I am having to clear our name.

I strive to do the best I possibly can for our customers and loose money to make them happy. I try to build the best products possible and try to make them easy on the customer to install, I try to use the best products with the best warranties so my customers are taken care of in the event of a gauge failure or sending unit which is why we use a company that has a Lifetime warranty on their gauges & sending units...

Thank you Ray and my Prayers are with you on receiving a transplant and that you stay with us for years to come!

Hi Dave,

Here is a link of when our second version of our dash's were being made by someone else and the time frame was about the same time as mine came out... https://turbobuick.com/threads/new-complete-dash-insert-coming-soon.404405/ Then that company couldn't produce what I wanted them to and it turned into more wiring for the customer than I wanted so We got rid of them and I went back to the drawing board myself and came out with the 3rd (Latest version) we have now...

BTW I believe we kinda got screwed by NVU. We were the guinea pigs for the design. The gauges they have now look like what we have but if you look at the wiring and program instructions on the website it's totally different than what we got!

I found mine pretty easy to install though it’s been years since it was done. If you have specific questions I’m sure I can dust off the cobwebs and provide some help. I have the same gauges.

It will be a few days before I’m home and can look through everything though.

One thing, after you remove your current dash remove the padding that surrounds it so you have room to work. It makes life much simpler.
Have a question on fuel level, reads fine with key on engine off. But level climbs up when engine running. I lose my sender ground. Will a better fp hotwire harness cure this issue?

On page one is a color diagram of where the wires go. It might take looking at it for a few minutes but it starts to make sense. Print or snap a picture of the screen and use it for a reference when working on the car.
Just trying to pick through the information that I need for my install of my NVU gauges. I have read most of the pages and posts on this thread. I have some wiring information from alldata, and have been able to pin point the colors of wires and locations in the connectors to make my wiring connections. I am unable to view any of the attachments sent in any previous posts and I am unable to see any of the attacthments or pictures on page one of this thread.

Would either one of you be willing to be in contact or be able to lend a hand in my install.

I can’t remember the specifics but may have documentation from my install. What specifically are the issues you are having?

Thanks.
From what ive gathered so far is I need a 3 wire GPS speed sender to run my speedo. (Orange wire to gauges)
A 2 pulse speed sender to send to my vss speed buffer for my pcm. (Green and Black to buffer) is my red to run my cruise, if so do I connect all three together
Remove and install coolant temp sender and harness
Remove my oil psi sender and harness. What happens with my old harness with it unplugged.
Can I use the current wiring from my existing vac\boost wiring to the old cluster.

Ive drawn up my main gauge harness plugin connection as such. Maybe wrong just looking for some insight.
1. Speed signal (Orange- white) wire from GPS speed sender.
2. Left turn (red - Pink/Black)
3. 12v (red-Pink/black)
4.Fuel (green-Pink)
5. Lights (White-Gry)
6. Hi Beam (Blue-Lt green)
7.R Turn (Green- Dk green)
8.Temp to installed sender.
9. Oil to installed oil sender.
10. NA
11. Tach (violet-white)
12. GND (Black-blakc)

yes, the response out here is great. the fact that we are the 30th largest city in the US and we are able to put this together so easily is amazing. I am looking forward to learning a few things. seeya next month.
