My car loves E85

I finally got around to installing my bigger pump and E85 chip. Wow, my car loves it. Feels great across the entire RPM band, I'm assuming this is because of the increased timing. And......Its only $2.20/gal. I love this stuff!

What A/F is everyone targeting? I'm at 23 psi now on a TA49, and at 10.8 to 10.9 a/f. My 60's are maxed out (85% DC). Absolutely zero knock. Ok to turn the boost up?

I don't have a flex fuel sensor. My good friend with a supra gets E85 from the same gas station, and its always in the 70-80% range.

I would get bigger injectors before upping the boost much more , 80's minimum . Is your new pump hot wired , if not it needs to be . Keep an eye on fuel pressure .

yes, the pump is hotwired. I don't have a permanent FP gauge,. 2 times now since I have made the switch, I have taped my FP gauge to the windshield and drove around....both times, its been on point.

If you turn up the boost your DC% is going to head north. 85% is as high as most would go. If something goes wrong with your fuel system it doesn't leave much room for correction in closed loop. If your daring and keep a close eye on fuel pressure you can give it a .5 psi bump and see what it does to your DC% . If your fuel pressure drops your injectors are most likely going static or the pump isn't keeping up. If you end up logging knock with e85 something is way off.

60s are tiny for e85 . 80s are super small aswell imo . I would go with some 160s if you are serious about making power on e85 . Just my opinion.

It will run stronger at 11.2 / 1 a/f ratio. This will give you more room to increase boost because you will use less fuel. Don't run more than 21 degrees of advance.

You can increase your fuel pressure to feed more fuel into the engine if you want to run even more boost. If you do this, lower the timing 2 degrees.

It is a bad thing to think that more timing is better when using E85. Ethanol burns at a faster rate than gasoline,so it doesn't need help by setting it on fire to early during the compression stroke. The biggest reason that you love the way your engine acts with E85 is because of its faster burn rate. Because of this, more work gets done earlier in the power stroke where the rod angle is such that it has more leverage on the crank. This is torque.
Switch any engine from gasoline to ethanol and you will find that they both make similar power, but the engine fed with ethanol will make more torque. Torque is a measure of how much work an engine can do. Horsepower is a measure of how fast it can do that work. If you want to experience the greatest seat of the pants improvement in acceleration, increase the torque of the engine. This is what ethanol does.

These are words of wisdom! I agree with him!
