Using NLU converter to pressure test a LU style 200-4R?

I am finishing my rebuild of my 200-4R and it was set up as a non-lockup trans but I’m converting it to lockup. My converter is a nonlockup type and I’ll be getting a new lockup converter for the trans. My question is can I use my non lockup converter in the trans just to do my pressure testing? Will it work or cause damage? If I can do this I’ll be able to check the trans sooner plus if something goes wrong I won’t potentially destroy a new expensive converter. Once all my pressure testing was done and good I’d slide the trans back and swap converters. Can this be done? Also, what are your recommendations for WOT lockup street strip converters, 2500 stall. I hear good stuff about PI and PTC. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Give Dave Husek @ Turbo Buick Performance a call 516-285-1103 , he can answer your questions and sell you the right converter .

did you have the converter flushed , do the valve conversion and wait for the LU converter

PI multi disc LU can hold WOT but needs a pump mod , the PTC isnt going to hold WOT, the 9.5 NL doesnt slip much at WOT usually around 5% with a lot of HP

So a NL converter wouldn’t be able to test the pump?

Thanks! I’ll reach out to PI to learn more about the pump mod. Lonnie @EXTREME also shows a WOT converter.
