Wow, how did you find that? I had a brand new set of Morel lifters and one of lifters were missing a bunch of needle bearings. I just happened to spin the roller on the defective one and the roller bounced up in body. This was just as they were going in. I was very lucky it wasn't installed. That would have been a mess. Brand new box with a tag that said inspected by (name) too. There's no excuse for yours to have been installed looking like that. Where they lubed before installed?

Took the top half of the motor apart because Nick didn't build it according to what I asked. Once the intake and heads were off he pulled the lifter out and that's when he found it. Had no choice, had to completely disassemble after that. Not sure on the lube part.

That cam will support 1000hp on an LC2. It will need a lot of spring and I wouldn’t use 5/16 pushrods!

Motor was built using 5/16 push rods.

If someone wanted my advice on that I’d tell them to switch cams and check/reset the spring installed heights and pressures and make sure they used a lifter compatible with the pressures. Otherwise you’re going to have to build around that cam. It will probably require different springs, different hardware, possible machining to make the springs fit, bigger pushrods which will require more work to the heads for pushrod clearance and a few other things that most never pay attention to

Is the "he" your new builder? It really makes a difference if you can talk face to face with the person doing the work. Emails, texts and phone just don't cut it.

Man I had build. From Nick he put a tensioner on my roller set up didn’t last three hundred miles. And my lifters broke needed be replaced at 900 miles. I haven’t happily driven my new build in three years. Now I have a problem with iac . I never would go back to nick or Zimmerman they engines are junk in my opinion. I don’t care who builds the engine if Zimmerman giving nick a bad name he needs to ditch him. Nick is a great guy but his engines suck

Turbo TGuy,

That was a serious misscharacterization of you and it was grossly wrong! Even though I can be a jug head from time-to-time it’s still makes no excuse, for you simply didn't deserve that! I’m sure had I sat on that for a day or two I would rethink my position.

My most sincere apologies! You are a gentleman and a scholar!

You bring many a great ideas, critical thoughts, and excellent analysis to this board. It’s people like yourself that give people like me ideas and I thank you for that.

I deeply appreciate you addressing the situation in a caring and thoughtful manner (something that I should have done) and clarifying things. Thank you!

Today’s a new day!

Regards,

Chris

A good builder will refuse to install springs if they know they are indequate.
A good builder will refuse to skip the align hone on the mains when installing billet caps.

If a customer wants 80lb seat pressure with a 218 roller cam, and 0.600 lift, should the builder just do it, or not put their name on it?

I am merely suggesting by these examples, that such a builder is either incompetent or doesn't care about their reputation.

Pronto,

"He" is Dale Cherry at injection connection.

Thank you Chris!

I truly hope you get things sorted out.

This engine was built over 5 years ago, and it was going into a street/fun car, not a track car.

When done, it was shipped to Dale Cherry with the documentation.

We just installed the lifter, we did not make it, but would have at least replaced it.

A complete invoice with items and cost was verified by Chris, and we did exactly what he wanted.

I never have had a very nice customer turn into an a-hole since many other people have had their hands and opinions involved in an engine?

After about 800+ turbo engines over 20 years, there have been a few issues with defective parts, but workmanship has been excellent.

What does fun street strip not track car refer to? I am not trying to beat a dead horse here, just want this clarified. I am trying to figure out what the difference between a race engine and a street engine would be in someone elses eyes.

Nick,

And…..And…. Still waiting!

Wow….those are fantastic answers to questions nobody asked!

Why not try answering the questions that I’ve asked you in this thread and in the e-mails I sent you? C’mon at least try. Show the board you at least have a little bit of integrity left. At this point what could it hurt. What are you so afraid of? Everyone already knows you’re a fraud dead-beat degenerate....

An “a-hole”…most definitely, but dishonest, sorry….I am NOT!

“A complete invoice with items and cost was verified by Chris, and we did exactly as he wanted.”

Nick, this invoice right here? Complete….. That’s a joke! How about ported heads? And what about my 9.5 Ross pistons? Why 5/16 push rods? And what happened with the correct cam….. List goes on and on….

“Since many of other people have had their hands and opinions involved in an engine?

What does that mean? Two people have touched that engine, Zimmerman Racing and Dale Cherry. That’s it. Nick, is this your way of saying you’re not gonna honor anything now because all these people had their “hands” in the motor. Ha ha….. You dirty lying scumbag, I knew from the beginning you would never honor anything. Jerkoff!

“After about 800+ turbo engines over 20 years, there have been a few issues with defective parts, but workmanship has been excellent.”

Nick, how many of those motors did you build? All 800? Or was it none? It was none…. nada, nein, zero, the goose egg…..

Couple things here Nick:

One:
Nick, here is your build sheet. Please, show me where it says “street/fun car on this build sheet. In fact, I don’t even know what that means…. and more importantly it sounds ridiculously fuckin stupid.

If the motor you were building was a street/fun car then what was my 109 motor that Dale rebuilt for me? A fuckin Big Wheel….a Jack & Jill ice cream truck… Fuck…. I need a Venn diagram to figure out your fuckin logic.

So, what exactly is a “street/fun” car? Because I already had a low 11 sec car.

“The engine was built over five years ago, it was going into a street/fun car not a track car.”

Was I never allowed to take it to the track? Why? Who would want/build such a thing?

If I’m spending $17K+ for a motor…it’s going to the tract!

Chris Hogeland didn’t have any problem getting it right. Same go for Dale Cherry. Everything Chris recommended, Dale agreed. And vice-versa. So why is it they are/were so right and you were so wrong? Ahhh, because they aren't shysters!

Nick, my intentions with my car haven’t changed. It’s not something on going to push onto a trailer, pull it to the track, race it, put it back on the trailer, and then pull it home. That’s a race car. I don’t know anyone who has something like that. I’m going to drive my car on the street, as most normal people do. I'll drive it to the track, race it, then, drive it home. Who knows, maybe drive it to the shore….Who cares…

Chris Hogeland's car makes over a 1000 hp to the wheels. He drives his all the time on the street. Does that make his car a "street/fun" car. He drives it on the street....and I'll bet it's balls ass fun to drive..... So yeah, I guess it is!

Why does it have to be absolute…. Why compartmentalize it into one thing or the other. Can’t it be both. Fuckin Stupid!

Two:
There is a sharp contrast between many a members on this board and yourself. A real testament of their character (boards), so-to-speak….

I have gotten many of PMs regarding the situation, and I’ll say, most if not all, were genuinely sincere about the misfortune with the broken lifter and the overall dissatisfaction along with the poor quality of the motor build.

But the one person that should have cared the most, yet ended up caring the least, was you.

Out of all this, your lack of thoughtlessness and unwillingness to do the right thing really shined through. Congratulations, Nick, you failed miserably!

Nick, this situation right here defines your character and integrity, or should I say, lack thereof and I hope all whom read this take that with great consideration.

Along time ago, when I was a young man, my father said to me: Chris, show me your friends and I’ll tell you what type of person you are.

You all might want to think about that the next time you call Nick Micale your friend.

Thanks for reading

Nick is my friend, and always will be, contrary to what anyone thinks or feels.
coming on here with an attitude, and a foul mouth, usually do not bode well.
you have reason to be upset, you DO NOT have cause to be a DICK!

Nick/Zimmerman are some of the best turbo buick people on earth,
and both are without a doubt , experts in engine building!

I hope you resolve your problems, but name calling, slandering, and in general being childish.
will not resolve your problems!

Well if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck ,looks like a duck,it's a duck.

Before ANYONE comes at me... I have no horse in this race, this is just MY opinion.

That's the most INCOMPLETE 17k invoice I've ever seen. I remember mile high GN's story, as well. I've spoken to Nick on the phone a couple years back, as I actually sold him used parts. I knew right then, that I would never do business with him. He tried to bully me, and tell ME the the condition of the parts I had right in front of me, as he was sitting in his chair in Arizona... I took his money, and never looked back. I think when business owners / builders ( term used loosely ) get assigned this "reputation" of being a good guy, vendor, builder, guru.. they think they can get away with anything, and their reputation will save them. I put this guy in the same boat as Brian @ GBody Parts. That boat sank along time ago....

I to, have been called an A-hole, because I speak my mind, and call it how I see it. Difference.... I don't steal from people. I agree.. If it quacks, it's a duck. If a guy can't / won't answer basic questions about part #, mfg., he's hiding something. How does a person like that usually answer...?? By DEFLECTION, which is evident in Nick's response.

Chris I am truly sorry for your loss ( $$ ), and unfortunately this was an expensive lesson to choke down. This situation would break me, and I would on my way to Arizona.. Just sayin'
