I WANT TO CLARIFY THIS SO THAT THERE ISNT ANY MISUNDERSTANDING CONCERNING THE WHEELS. THESE ARE AMERICAN RACING 9 1/2" X 15" VORTEX WHEELS WHICH ARE WHAT THE EARLY TURBO BUICKS SPORTED STOCK (EVERYONE CALLS THEM T TYPE WHEELS) THEY WERE ALSO USED IN LATE 60'S MOPARS, BUT THE BOLT PATTERN AND BACKSPACING IS NOT FOR TURBO BUICKS, OR ANY GM FOR THAT MATTER. THESE WERE CUSTOM ORDERED SOMETIME IN THE EARLY 70'S. THE STOCK SIZE T-TYPE WHEELS ARE 8", NOT 9 1/2". THAT BEING SAID, I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE WHEELS. THEY DO NOT MAKE THESE ANYMORE! THEY ARE NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, I'M WILLING TO BET THAT AT THE MOMENT, MINE ARE THE ONLY ONES AVAILABLE ON THE PLANET, AND I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO PROVE ME OTHERWISE. I KNOW THIS ALL SOUNDS LIKE HYPE AND HORSESHIT BUT THESE TRULY ARE VERY RARE WHEELS TO COME ACROSS LET ALONE FIND FOR SALE. I WAS MEGA LUCKY WHEN I FOUND THEM AND I SCOOPED THEM UP KNOWING HOW RARE THESE WERE. THEY WERE NOS AND NEVER MOUNTED BEFORE I GOT THEM. I PAID $1200 CASH FOR THE 2 WHEELS. THEY ARE POWDER COATED BLACK AND ARE FLAWLESS AND UNREMARKABLE. I USED THEM LITERALLY 6 TIMES AT THE TRACK ON GOODYEAR SLICKS FOR NICE AND EASY 12 SECOND PASSES. I HAVE NEW AMERICAN RACING CENTERCAPS THAT GO WITH THEM. I WON'T TAKE A PENNY LESS THAN $1000 AND I AM WILLING TO THROW IN THE GOODYEAR SLICKS FOR FREE. THATS $500 WORTH OF RUBBER FOR FREE! THESE FIT PERFECT UNDER THE STOCK GN FRAME AND HAVE PLENTY OF CLEARANCE. I DID HAVE TO ROLL MY ARCHES SLIGHTLY TO ACOMODATE THE SLICKS BUT A DOT TIRE WILL FIT NICE AND SNUG IN THE WHEEL WELL. THESE WHEELS ARE AWESOME TO SAY THE LEAST IF YOUR RUNNING STOCK T TYPES AND WANT TO RUN A WIDER REAR. NOT FAKE IT WITH SPACERS OR RUN SOME BULLSHIT AFTERMARKET THAT ALL LOOK LIKE CRAP ON OUR CARS ANYWAY. I'M SORRY TO SOUND LIKE A FREAK OR LIKE I'M SELLING HOLY SNAKE OIL OR SOMETHING, BUT THESE WHEELS ARE LEGIT. SUPER RARE, AND I JUST NEED YOU AND ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY BE INTERESTED TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THEM. AFTER THIS BOOK RANT I CANT SEE HOW ANYBODY COULDNT.

They are legit. I had a pair and sold them. I know where they are at least 2 more. They aren't the holy grail but they are a nice to have. TYPING IN ALL CAPS MAKES IT SUPER HARD TO READ. So are you selling them or just want to say how rare they are?

HERE ARE PICS OF THE UNICORN WHEELS. Lol!

Sorry for the caps attack! They are for sale, and I will throw in the Goodyear slicks as well! $1000 bucks. Non-negotiable.

Good luck with the sale. No idea what they are worth they days but if you get a grand, I'm digging up a couple sets!! :D
I would definitely keep an eye on the thread then. Not sure if there are many guys as passionate about running stock t-types as I was. I would have paid more. They were also NOS so, that makes them more special. I only mounted them once for one afternoon of shaking down my car at the track. They've made 6 12 second passes and came off and have been sitting in my shop ever since. I think with the newish rubber its a screaming deal. You may have access to a few like them, but I dont think too many others are. Also the fact that they are basically BRAND NEW 40 year old wheels! Thanks for the interest and input. I appreciate it. It's nice to see that someone else really appreciates what these are! Ttyl, be well.

Stock Vectors are 7". Early Turbo Buicks never used these. They started in 1984 on the GN.

Aftermarket Vectors came in 8.5" and 10". I don't know why someone would custom order 9.5" when 10" are available. Are you sure you measured right?

8.5" and 10" are fairly common. They were super popular on 1970's Corvettes. I have 8.5" on my T Type. Matches the stock wheels well, but they do use different lugs (shank and washers) and center caps.

I guess it depends on how it's measured. For example if you measure a 8 inch wheel from the outside lips it measures 9 inches.

I've had 3 sets of 8.5 Vectors, didn't know they made a 9.5" or 10" width...........
Would the 28.0" x 9.0" racing tire shown mounted above even (safely) fit on a 9.5" wide rim .?.?.?.?.

So you bought the Holy grail and then powder coated it?
Yes. I made them for me, not the hard to find wheels museum. All my wheels on my car are black Powdercoat. I didn't have any intention on selling them at the time.

Sure. I ran 120 with them several times at the track. It was definitely hard to get the bead to seat but once it did, they were good to go. I ran them around 9-10 psi with screws. I would say they are 100% safe.

and drilled them for screws on a 12 sec car :nailbiting:
Your right, I should have called you guys first to ask what's exceptable and safe for myself. My mistake. It ran 10's with a 300 shot BTW. Just not on those wheels, but could have. Maybe go and heckle someone else's post. This is a for sale posting, not an inquisition into what's exceptable in your narrow ass mind. Thanks. JO
