Hey guys, my name is Joey from Minnesota. Long time lurker-first time poster.
I'm in the process of transplanting an intercooled 3.8 into my 1976 Vega wagon. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as the build gets going!

Welcome.
There is also that "Hybrid" section if you wanted to post up about the build... not sure if you saw that?

Here's the few pics I had on my phone.. ignore the last one, just playing around seeing how slicks would look

I did see that! Thanks, I'll end up posting there once things really get rolling. right now I have the engine apart waiting on funds to have some machine work done

Very cool hot rod. What does that thing weigh? That stock rear end ain't gunna cut the mustard. Not with a good set of tires.
Can't wait to here more about this monster.

Thanks! It weighs just around 2300lb according to Google. I have an 8.5" 10 bolt laying around from the donor car, but I'm thinking of going with a Ford 8.8 so I can retain the stock torque arm setup without breaking the bank

Welcome. We need more Northcountry folks on here.
I love the Vega wagons, especially the panel wagons.

That thing is going to be a rocket.

Welcome into the fold......

That car reminds me a little of my high school friend, Chase Alley's 71 Vega Hatchback...... He was a fork lift mechanic at the time. Dude knew his stuff about mixing different fuels with ambient air back then....... He could fabricate, too.......

Tubbed the rear end, put a narrowed 373, 12 bolt rear end in it, stuffed a l'il NO2'd small block in it connected to a built 400 trans...............Holy crap, that thing ran like a scalded dog. :D

Well, for the late 70's it was a king of the hill, anyway.............

At 2300 # might as well get some wheelie bars, you are going to need them. Lol that little V6 is going to make your asshole pucker

Lol. It will be gripping the seats so tight you'll have to get them surgically removed. Hehe

I lived in Rockford, 25 mi. N.W. of the cities off of Hwy 55, over by Buffalo and Monticello back in the 70's when hot rod Vegas were easier to find.
My dad bought a brand new bright orange Vega hatchback in '77 for a work car.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I can't wait to see it ripping up asphalt all over the cities, not that the roads aren't bad enough there already.

That thing is going to be sooooo fuuuuun!

Good looking Vega! That is going to be a fun ride. My brother has a 72 Vega hatchback prostreet car with a big block 396 in it . All I can say is wheelies are fun!
