Buick XFI Sportsman

There is a gauge display on the laptop. It is not configurable. There is also a master dash which is configurable, but isn't gauges just values.

Is there a picture or image of what all this looks like on the laptop? Would love to see everything the laptop screens can do and display. Very little info on the FAST website.

I'm thinking less is more in my interior. If this unit helps me eliminate some gauges, why do the Edash and a laptop if the gauge readouts also show on the laptop?

Couldn't I mount the laptop or convertible tablet (laptop that turns into a tablet) so that it ends up looking somewhat like the Edash does and therefore have one less thing in the interior? What if the tablet has touchscreen capabilities?

Does the Edash run an app or is just a touchscreen interface to the ecu?

Sorry for all the questions. $1,000+ is a lot to me even though I understand the immense value this brings which is why I'm taking this so seriously.

You can download the standard sportsman software off the FAST website. It'll be close enough to give you an idea.
If you replace the eDash with your laptop, is it really one less thing?

Can someone who has the Edash post some pics of the Edash screens and "gauges" so any of us interested can get a feel for how it looks?

Is there going to be any end of the year or Christmas specials
I'm sorry, but I can't. As it is, I can't keep them in stock. With all the tech support involved, I doubt you'll ever find a better deal on a complete plug and play stand alone ECU.

Was wondering the same thing. Can’t seem to find anything on there website.

That’s great ! If I’m all setup to go sd2 and only have to buy the chip what’s the advantage of sportsman. True speed density ?Leaning sd2 because I’m all set other than the chip.

There is a bunch of us who had the SD2 and went with the Sportsman. I personally had issues with keeping the powerlogger seated to the motherboard in the factory ECM. When this happens usually the car just stops running and you lose some of your parameter values/settings or the car runs horrible and you have to get off the road before it dies. I’m not bad mouthing that product and I have great respect for Bob and Eric. I have a driver, I personally put 141,000+ miles on my car since 1984 so if you don’t drive your car much or do 8 hour road trips you may not have any issues. It’s a personal decision, good luck! I love my Buick again with the FAST Sportsman, thanks to Cal Hartline and the engineers at FAST!
On a different subject I meet with my Harley Davidson riding friends every Wednesday for dinner a guys night out. Usually about (4) of us get together. Well last night my friend Matt asked for a ride in the GN with it being winter in PA I have street tires on the car. He was completely surprised as I talked the baby V-6 performance down. I did one hit at 30# boost from a 40 mph roll and broke the tires loose instantly so I lifted and put it back to the floor with manageable amount of loss traction. He was in disbelief, so a bit later going up a small hill I slam the throttle for perhaps a second and the tires roasted again and I hear him say holly shit as he is reaching for the dash of course he doesn’t touch anything. As we are parking the car he is asking about all the views on the edash the alky box, the electric dump... just then our other friend Dave rolls in so we get out of the car walking toward the club and Matt was holding his chest (like he’s having a heart attack) telling our friend Dave something to the effect you can’t believe the power of Chuck’s car.... Dave owns a bunch of nice cars and he had his stock 14 Cadillac V with the factory supercharger, he told Matt that he knows all about what the Buick V-6 Turbo is capable of. Dave and I have known each other since 10th grade in high school we have worked together as machinists several times. Anyway it was a great night and the Buick just made it better....sorry for the long response. Honestly if you just need the chip you can go that route for the least amount of cash output, but the first time you have flaky issues with you values changing for no reason your going to need to pull your computer and reseat the power logger. You will get real good at disassembling the ECM, cleaning off the old adhesive putting new picture frame two face tape down (double them for a more parallel fit) and reassembling the ECM and installing it back into the kick panel. In fact I bought a second powerlogger and ECM (used) to always have a backup ready to drop in on the road, just swap the chips over and recheck all your parameters.

Thanks for the response chuck I’ve had the powerlogger for 5 years and have never had a seating issue so I think I’ll try the chip.

Forgive me if it's been covered... Is the TR6 ignition compatible with the Sportsman?
