Curious on stage 2 oiling rear galley to galley

Why not just run a line from galley to galley in rear of block vs relying on the transfer groove (in block, back of bearing or front cam journal) to get oil to drivers side galley. Ive seen a few done and they work with out issue just curious why more arent done that way. Would seem it would have a better supply than a transfer groove.
A hard line would be my preference for longevity vs SS braid.

I pretty sure there is a drilling that goes from the oil pump area angled up to the drivers side, or at least can be drilled and completed if it's not already.

Main feed is the passenger side galley is the direct feed to the mains (Priority main oil feed) and then to cam. Driver side galley has to be fed from that side, maybe someone will chime in with the drilling of a passage you are referring to.

It's the plug that normally has the oil pressure idiot light switch on a stock block IIRC. It's been a while but I remember drilling it to make the connection to the drivers side lifter galley and was partially there but a blind hole just short of making the connection as is.

Interesting that would a pretty long bit and would have to be careful and straight. I know many will feed the oil supply to engine in the spot you are referencing.

Mine was partially drilled so it was a simple matter of just getting a drill to guide in the existing passage to connect the lifter galley. Again it's been a while so my memory is s little foggy as to what I did.
I do remember this, my block is lifter bushed and has small oil feed holes to the lifters. I had ran this engine dry on the drivers side for about 10 years without knowing. At the same time I didn't have any drain back holes in the lifter valley and would fill up with oil and drain through the front timing gear area. It wasn't until about 7 years ago during a freshen up that I really started looking at the oil passages and discovered this. So basically I joined the oiling passages for that drivers side lifter galley and added drain back holes in the lifter valley.

Thanks for the pics. Your pics show the PASSENGER side oil galley which is the MAIN oil feed galley (to clarify im not talking about the fact that a stage 2 is priority main oil feed im talking the fact that the passenger side is the MAIN oil galley). Looking through you pics you can see that in order for oil to get from the MAIN/Passenger side galley it has to go through the front cam bearing or like I mentioned you could do a line from rear oil galley to rear oil galley. Drilling from the front main saddle up to the driver side galley would have to be done very carefully and with a small bit and I dont think I would feel comfortable doing that as it would be a weakened area in the wall bulkhead of the block. Clearly there is not a casting bulge to accommodate.

Digging through some old threads and stumbled across this "the block will have a dead end passage behind the front cam bearing (2 oclock). This passage needs to be drilled through to the lifter galley." from Cal @HighPSI and wondering if you could elaborate. Where do you place the drill to drill from to extend the passage over to driver side lifter galley? thanks
 
The passage is at a slight angle inward. It's easy to drill from the front of the block

Thanks!! But that still has to have a transfer groove in some form of the front cam bearing to feed it tho correct?

Got it...i see now....Pulled out my 016 stage 2 block looked at cam bearing and removed the driver side front galley plug and it had the the drill through done like Cal mentioned. It would seem that the rear galley to galley plug mod would get more oil in the pass side galley but vs transfer groove in front cams journal. But I can also see where it would be just fine since it's just lifters and possibly driver side top end.

There is no need for A connection in the back. Just drill Ike you have in the pic. You just oiling lifters and rockers on that side. When I have customer that are running solid lifters I restrict oil to that side.

Thanks I appreciate the input from everyone. I have a virgin 153 (next to last version w/all mains 4 bolt) I just picked up that I will be building over the next few years. And getting a better grasp on the blocks oiling mods.
