The fisherman becomes the fish

So, I'm back in town for the first time in four weeks and I'm going to a working lunch with a couple of guys from my office and I offer to drive them in the GN. We are driving along back beach road here in Panama City Beach, FL when a young kid in a 2 door Infinity G35 pulls along beside me in traffic doing about 35 mph and revs up and pulls out on me. He must be out fishing, but I laugh because we have no where to go due to traffic. Anyway, as luck would have it, traffic clears out a bit. He's in the left lane and I roll up in the right. I lower the window and look at him as we slow down to about 25 mph. I drop it in to Drive and hit the alky test button in preparation. He holds up 3 fingers and I just gesture for him to go for it if he would like to. Instead he counts off the three fingers while doing the three honks and takes off. He gets half a car on me as I jump into and break the tires loose. I proceed to blow by him like he it is literally standing still and put two cars on him almost instantly. I slow down and he pulls up with a stunned look on his face and says his car has a stage 1 motor in it (whatever that is in a G35??). Still stunned he says "What's in that???!" I said "It's just a V6 with a turbo" and smile. The guys my car were dying! As a friend of mine said later after I told him the story "He is probably reconsidering his life choices." :) Most fun I've had in the car in awhile.

Some peoples kids.........

Daddy must have failed to tell this young man "Son, when you roll up on an OG Buick with a bump on the hood, ya'll need to lay back. You just don't have the right stuff." ;)

GREAT KILL!!!!!!!!

I was at a Cars and Coffee that the place I work at sponsors and a young man pulled up in a black G35 with, at a very minimum, a cat back system on it........ I work at a High Line/Super High Line dealer group in Scottsdale, AZ. This was about 6 months ago.

He walked up to my car and sneered as if it didn't belong there. Well, I will tell you right now, I wasn't having any of that.

When we left the venue (at the same time, because I was waiting for him :D) and cruised up to the 2 lane left turn freeway on ramp, I wondered what he would do.

Me, Pole Position.

Him, just to the right of me in the other lane.

Light goes green, we make the turn and straighten out the cars front bumper to front bumper.

With just shy of an 1/8 mile before the on ramp merges to 1 lane, I hear him stomp on the loud pedal, so I smash the accelerator.

Spinning and swerving, I put about a bus length and a half before backing out. My buddy with his '64 fastback Corvette (who was right behind me) decided to teach this foo' a double lesson and went around him, too.

I saw him about a month later at another "show-n- shine" and he actually walked up and told me the story of the on ramp duel, gave my car a serious once over, gave me a fist bump and a big thumbs up.

I thought that was pretty cool. I actually hope to run into him again.

NICE KILLS!
A Sunday visit to Dunkin D gave me the op to school a dude w/ a Viper.
We heard him bumpin' his gums that he had 2 of those ugly ass heaps, and was king of the 4 lane..
Well, the next Sunday, the ol 86 stage car was our ride of the day, and this guy was the fish.
Ya, we were stalking him.:smug: Sure enough, he's there, talking the same smack.
We waited for him to leave. He never knew what hit him.!

Without the tech, there might not be so many kills!

Agreed 100%!! No doubts there! It's just that these stories are freaking hilarious! And you know that only a fraction of the folks here are even reporting theirs! And let's face it, we have some seriously funny personalities on here too! But they're all funny so please keep em coming! As it keeps those of us in varying states of construction inspired to keep after it! So thanks to everyone!!!

If the rain stays away, I'm doing a private track day tomorrow.

I think I might surprise at least one fellow that has been beating his gums about how fast his car is at me for a couple of weeks now.

I'll get video if I can...... :woot:

Have fun! Don't beat him too bad, you might want to run him again!

I might play dead and then redeem myself later in the day, but the threat of rain makes me think not. Honestly, this guy is a real douche nozzle and needs to be dispatched with as soon as humanly possible. :D

Dang.

Blew a hole in the upper radiator hose on the first pass, ended my day right then and there.

^^^ Exactly!
Back in the mid-to-late 80s, my wife's boss decided to buy a new 280Z (or whatever was current then?), so I wrote up a list for her to give him.... said that he should "pretend to be changing the radio station" if he saw certain USA-branded cars next to him at a traffic light. You KNOW that the GN was at the top of the list

Damn. Sorry to hear that.

You prep for days and days, then load up with all the tools and any and every silly part or thing you think can or might go sideways...........

Sum-un-a-gun.......... :(

This stopped me from attending Hot Rod Power Tour (and it started in my home town this year)! Very upsetting and very difficult part to find at 10:30 at night on Sunday when you live in the sticks!

Tucson, AZ. on a Sunday.

I went down there alone. Not much of a chance of finding an upper radiator hose for an 87 turbo regal within 30 square miles of the track , I'm fairly certain.

Whatever, it's the chance you take. At least it happened past the finish line........

Wrong... you just got to know people guy..
