ANYBODY USE THESE LED HEADLITES?

Good to see LEDs up against HID's. The arc from the HID has incredible penetrating power, but LED's have come a long way since the first LED headlights with all the lenses and individual chips.

We supply electrical wiring for municipal vehicles and when they switched over to LED headlamps, they discovered a bad thing; the LEDs don't melt the ice and snow collecting on the lamps because of reduced heat. The halogen lights did a good job of melting the ice. So, it looks like LEDs will work but heaters are needed to prevent ice buildup in bad weather.

We have found the same thing after changing to LED traffic signal lights.
There are no heaters installed, so we must go out once in a while and scrape the wet sticky snow off the lights using a long pole with a wide putty knife, while not getting hit by stupid people going waaaaay too fast for the conditions.

I don't know what their hurry is, Walmart is open all night. Lol

Interesting. That would make an issue on daily drivers. The op's link shows those leds have a cooling fan so I assume they get hot?

Yup, I was aware of the icing issues with LED headlights in winter time. No worries about not melting the snow & ice for me though (and I bet most TurboBuick owner) ....my car is tucked away till spring time and never gets driven in the winter months.
I would imagine that another benefit of LED's is that they draw far less power and draw less amps when operating, so it's less strain on your entire electrical system.
Pronto, no cooling fans on the JW Speakers, just large heat sinks on the back side of the headlight assembly housings.

Previously I had some Hella e-code housings (H4's & H1's) with the H4 running HID bulbs with the anti glare shield, the high beam H1's were fit with 100watt bulbs. Of course a custom wiring harness fed directly from the battery with dual fuses and relays was required. Much less $ than the LED Projectors, but not even close with the lighting output.

That is exactly what I have on my car, except now I have the HID's in the low beams. This setup ^^^^^^isn't even in the same category as the OEM stock setup. The lows for me could be a little better but when the brights are on "Let there be light". I don't have the exact #s in front of me but you are not getting the above setup up for 1/5 of the JW Speaker setup. By the time you add up the housings, bulbs, harness, relays and labor(?) you are looking at about $400-500. And if the LED's blow this setup away then they must be phenomenal.
I just don't personally like the look of the chrome projector LED for our cars. The black ones on your car look pretty good though.

A little off topic, but if anyone is interested in another alternative, I've got a pair of rare / high end Starr XP4656B 4"x6" Bi-Zenon HID Projector headlight housings that I'm going to be selling soon.
These would be used in the Low Beam (outter) locations and feature a motorized flapper that will alter the beam output when commanded from low to Hi beam. The projector lens is a high quality lens with good optics.
Comes with wiring harness too. I have a pair of HID ballasts that I will throw in , but you will need some D1 HID bulbs or D2s HID bulbs and the use of an adapter harness.
If you paired these with a set of H1 4"x6" (High Beam Housings) with some 100 watt halogen bulbs, you would have a very good lighting set up. The only modification needed to make them fit is to open up the opening in the low beam headlight shells.
pricing reduced to $250.00 + shipping

Very nice. I had this setup on my MR2 years ago. Incredible light output. Thats a great price.

OK, just installed the LED lights featured in the ebay link in the OP for $69 a pair. They look just like stock when off, and they give a bright white light, much brighter than stock halogen, when lit. Haven't had a chance drive them at night yet, but so far, so good.

I cured my poor lighting.....I developed night blind, and don't go out after dark...:bucktooth:

They say they are dual function, low and high beam. How do you control what setting for the low? If you got a second set how do you make sure they are on high?

This thread just keeps getting better (and confusing). Thanks Boxcars... those seem to be pretty bright & white, even in the daytime!
So here is what I'm getting out of this thread...
(1) JW Speaker - LED / high end performance / sinister looking black housing / plug & play / heat sink cooling / $1000 (ouch)
(2) Kirban H4 Kit - H4 / mid level performance / HD harness kit / stock appearing / plug & play / $130
(3) Sylvania Silverstar - Halogen / mid level performance / stock appearing / plug & play / $100
(4) Ebay H4/LED Kit - LED / mid level performance / stock appearing / plug & play / $130
(5) Hella E code Hybrid - LED / mid-upper performance / stock appearing / H1 + H4 + diffuser / $250ish?
(6) Stock replacements - Halogen / low performance / stock appearing / plug & play / $40 (Live with it)

Am I missing anything? Cause I sure could be...

Inquiring minds want to know??? I would want a second pair, so they all match.

It looks like they use the same housings for both low beam and high beam.

The low beam sockets on the car have three wires, low, high and ground for both low beams and high beams.
The high beam sockets on the car only have high and ground, so you only have high beams. The low beam part of the bulbs are not used in the high beam location.

If you order an extra set, you could use them as high beams on the same car or low beams on a different car.

Edited: due to posting in my sleep. I really need to see a doctor about this.

Led bulbs can't melt ice and snow. Per Chuck, any bulb is fine as long as you don't drive at night!

On a second look, they are extremely bright, to me. I'm not planning an additional purchase of LED hi-beams so my total layout is $69. The stock hi beams are more than sufficient. I figure how often will I need to use hi-beams? Also, the ice thing is interesting for those who are affected, but I live in Florida so it's not an issue for me.

On the installation, they are "plug and play" as far as electrical, but I did have to modify the stainless headlight frame and make the hole in the bucket housing larger to accomodate the ass end of the bulb.

option #7, but really should be ranked #2
(7) for lighting as good as the JW Speakers (shown in option 1 above) are the Starr XP4656B 4"x6" Bi-Zenon HID Projector headlights for $300. (plus shipping & PayPal fees),
includes wiring harness and electronic ballasts...just need open up the headlight bucket & add D1 or D2s HID bulbs

It looks like you get (2) low beam housings, (2) high beam housings and (4) H4 LED bulbs.
The low beam sockets on the car have three wires, low, high and ground for both low beams and high beams.
The high beam sockets on the car only have high and ground, so you only have high beams. The low beam part of the bulbs are not used in the high beam housings.

If you order an extra set, you would have enough for (2) cars.

I'm sorry, my bad. I should just shut up and go to sleep when I'm tired.
I misinterpreted the listing.

The wiring part still holds true.
Again, my apologizes for the confusion.

Edited previous post.

I saw another option from "Lumen" #SB-4655HL-BLK for $320/pr. (Looks a lot like JW Speaker) That would bring the cost down to @ $650. Thoughts???

Sorry Royal-T-Ltd, no pics mounted on the car as I never got around to installing these.

Here's a few pics from their brochure though.
