My Experience with Motor & Trans Build by Nick Micale

I am very pleased that Nick and I have come to an agreement and settled the matter. I initially couldn’t help but wonder if my feedback post inspired Nick to work with me. But the problem is – I never gave him the chance privately. And I very much regret that. I wrote him off months ago, became closed minded, and in light of his cooperative attitude with me in private today, I’ll just never know. But I surely could’ve tried, and so for that, I apologize to Nick and the members on the board.

Someone posted that we both made mistakes, and I see that was one of mine. So I think it’s only fair that after I receive the new heads from Nick, that I delete this harsh feedback post. Nick is making this right, and I believe we’ve both learned from it. I don’t believe he deserves to have this negative feedback haunting him when he’s stepped up. Call it my way of making amends for not giving him the benefit of the doubt and approaching him privately before posting.

I agree 100% that the head porting issue is in the end my main grievance. Nick made good on the transmission months ago. As I believe I stated - I would not have posted any feedback if it wasn’t for the ported heads and pistons, which I’m embarrassed to say, was premature. I hadn’t fully confirmed that they were forged. It was this morning, after finally getting a better look at the number on the dish, that it was entirely confirmed with a Speed Pro rep…Nick put in forged pistons! So pardon me Nick for the false accusation. I’m actually very pleased to be able to clear his name there too!

And pardon me for not giving you the opportunity in private to work things out. I am satisfied with our agreement, and appreciate your cooperation. While there was a big miscommunication on the heads, there’s no argument that Champion Irons will “satisfy” my expectations. For that, I see you have *seriously made good* on giving me the motor I envisioned…maybe then some. So thank you greatly!

I hope that we have regained a bit of respect for each other. I surely have for you.

As soon as I receive the new heads, I will delete this entire thread.

Lastly, thanks to those who refrained from expressing insulting and critical judgment from a far. Some did, and for others…I’m sure it was tempting. Our TR’s are dear to us, can be a love/hate relationship, and bring up a lot of personal feelings. But my hat’s off to those who took the high road and remained civil and respectful toward a fellow man, regardless of their personal opinion.

I am glad that this is patched up, mistakes happen,
expectations are not understood or are not expressed clearly at times,
and problems happen every day, in all aspects of our lives.

Our Turbo Regal community is pretty small and we need to
make the most of what we have left here so our cars
can continue to survive and kick ass!

You never know what is around the next corner in life
and we should make the best of everyday.

Motion to have this thread locked.

I wholeheartedly agree.

As far as locking the thread, I'm not sure if you're requesting that be done by a moderator, or me...but I'd just like to make the final post to announce when the heads arrive from Nick, so everyone knows it's 100% finalized.

Our agreement, is that Nick will send me a heads up as soon as he receives them next week. As soon as he gets them in, I'll be sending my final payment to him. As soon as he receives that payment, he'll be sending me the heads. As soon as I receive the heads, I'd like to give one last post stating all is good in the world. And then like I said, I'll be deleting the thread.

I second the statement that our tr community is pretty small. Thats why we really have no room to screw eachother over in my opiñion. These cars are getting older and so are we. We need to continue the passion and instill this passion on to the next generation. My GN will be given to my kids to continue the passion that i have had for so long. I believe we all share that passion or else we wouldn't be in this love/hate relationship. Lets get back to breaking our knuckles, getting fuel down our arms, getting debris in our eyes, getting cut, burned, well, you get the picture and keep working on our beloved buicks. I am really glad that you guys hashed things out. I hope to see you all at richard clarks event.

Like someone stated before. Somewhere in the middle is the truth.

Sometimes it takes drastic measures to achieve the end results.

Further more, most of the members posting on here should be ashamed of themselves.

For people not taking sides there were a lot of sides taken.

We are all biased in one way or another.

Containing it, is what gives you integrity.

Most of you, not so much.

And to the moderators.

This is a perfect example why you shouldn’t lock up these brutal threads.

Sometimes they can work themselves out.

When men are talking, shit gets done.

D

p.s. This thread should not be deleted.
It serves as an example to others that regardless of people taking sides that two other people in dispute can work things out thru an open forum.

Sounds good. It will stay open as long as the rest stay out..........Thanks;)

If he getting heads from Champion it may take longer than expected so don't freak out. Everyone knows champions turnaround time can be slow. Glad it was all worked out.

Thanks for your nice comment, I am also glad this worked out! :)

I have a fresh set of Champion iron heads that will ship to Terry next week.

Nick sent me a dw fuel pump last year told me to pay him once I recieved it in the mail. Seemed like a pretty trustworthy guy. Not many people would do that.

So Nick you went from hero to zero & now back to hero.I hope you learned your lesson repent from your scurrilous ways & leave the sand out of the Vaseline. This is your last chance don't blow it again ! :wacky:

See the attached invoice. I'll just describe the TC. It's bright red. So I called Hughes this morning, and they did confirm that theirs is bright red. I asked if they paint anything else on them, and he said only a number near the pump inlet. I told him the TC was installed, and he said I wouldn't be able to see if so. But I'm not going to make too big of a deal about the TC...it's just one of his lies that I believe he exaggerated on. Technically, to make good on replacing my old debris contaminated TC, which I believe was stock, he could've just sent a new or good condition stock replacement. It was his "This is a $400 Hughes TC with a 2,800-3K stall" that I believe he just embellished on. I didn't pay for it, so enough said about the TC. The point of my Feedback is fair more concerning than the TC....like no forged pistons...putting in a used transmission when he was supposed rebuild mine...not putting in the DW (never dropped the tank; see pic), no ported heads!!!

I have another thread where I asked about the pistons, and a person's reply, who said they were Speed Pro hypereutectic. I asked him about his confidence level (he said he had the same pistons originally in his motor, then upgraded to the Speed Pro forged). His reply was: "I'm positive. The hyper ones are far more common than the forged. Come to remember, the new ones I bought were .040 bore, hypereutectic... I did a lot of research on that material and the names those Pistons all go by and found nothing bad. These are the ones.. Found my invoice."

Can you tell me what forged crank and pistons he used on your build. How about rods? Did you replace the rods, too?

The only pistons we use are from CP, Ross or TRW, NEVER have we used a hyper piston in a turbo V-6 build.

The forged cranks we use are from Eagle, or our propriety source, and we have not needed to do any machine work on these cranks.

Like most other parts in the build, if forged rods are requested by the customer, we use the ones from Molner Technologies. On some high HP builds, Molner has supplied us with custom rods.

We have done many 600 HP builds with stock rods and have not seen a issue with them when they are checked and prepared properly.

Just to give final closure to this thread, here are the heads I will be shipping tomorrow to resolve any dispute and issues with the work on this T-Type.

I went a little overboard, but I rather give than take, and I felt this would be a good settlement to get rid of any ill feelings. :)

They look good Nick. I'll email you, and you can reply with the email address associated with the Paypal account so I can send you the final payment tonight.

As promised, I will delete this thread as soon as the heads are received.

No, this thread won't be deleted. It's been resolved which shows how a good vendor handles issues. It will be closed though.

Do I not have the option of deleting it, as the OP? That was something I told Nick I would do during our resolution/negotiation communications. If I have that option as the OP, I would like to honor Nick's and my agreement.

The owner of the board (SGRIM) has stated that we don't delete feedback threads. This is because of accusations that it's biased towards vendors and isn't willing to stand up for members when wronged by a vendor. If Nick agrees that it should be deleted, I'll see if Shane agrees. I sent him a link to the thread when it started so he may be watching it as well. This thread does show that we (the board) don't interfere with resolutions between a member and a vendor when an issue comes up.

Okay, and understood. I thought that an OP could delete any thread they started, which was why I promised Nick I would delete it after I received the heads.

Though he never told me directly, I do believe Nick would prefer that it would be deleted. Of course he can state that directly to the owner of the board.

Its not done yet, Nick is to be whipped & publicly humiliated at the nut farm event. :wacky:
