s/c Buick LeSabre question.

Hi I'm new here, recently acquired a 92 Lesabre which at first was a "boring but comfortable" car to me. 1 owner car and nearly immaculate condition. I had plans of cleaning a few things up, tint and stereo and leave it at that as a comfy daily for traveling to work. Well I'm a car guy and I can NEVER just leave things alone, says my wife... stock is boring, she just don't understand. Haha. Onto my question.

Doing some research I've found that the s/c from a 92-93 bonneville will mate up with the engine in my LeSabre which has me very interested!! Curious if any one on here has done the conversion and could share some insight? Maybe a link to a build similar that one of you know of..
Any help would be greatly appreciated, just trying to further my knowledge on ot and figure out every little thing I'm going to need for the conversion .
Thanks in advance.

If you are really in love with the car, and have a lot of time, patience, and are familiar with wiring, I'd recommend you swap to an L67. find a wrecked or rotted donor, and swap engine, trans and ecm. I just finished an L67 swap on my 97 Lumina with 3.1. night and day difference. finding support for series 1 3800 is tough. Google L67 swap. good luck

Thanks for the advice, that may be something I'll look into in the future but for the time being I want to just try and see what I can get out of the engine in the car.. someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming the n/a 3800 series would be running a slightly higher compressionr ratio than the s/c 3800? That way I can build a bit more power off the oem settings, I'm reffering to psi and such.. I am also thinking about doing meth injection or even running e85. Obviously I have a lot of research to do but if any one cares to chime in who has more knowledget than me would be great. I'm just thinking out loud here, nothing is 100% but the idea of a complete sleeper LeSabre sounds exciting to me.

This is essentially what I am doing with a new project I am starting, although not a Le Sabre, it's a series 1 N/A 3800 Buick Regal. I might be swapping to the M62 supercharger from the earlier L67, just need to figure out the pulley system. The injectors and regulator are the easy part, but I would recommend a Megasquirt ECU for this as opposed to flashing the stock ECU to control fueling, spark and trans. Much much easier. How far have you gotten so far, it's been a few months since you started this thread...

It is a very slight difference in compression, not enough to make any difference in terms of detonation, which is unlikely at these power levels. For the general swap, the Series 1 n/a 3800 will require the supercharger, brackets, pulleys, belts, and changes to the coolant and power steering lines. As for ECM control, scrap the Megasquirt concept I mentioned above, its not needed, as the stock series 1 PCM's (N/A and Supercharged) are virtually identical, save for the larger injectors and MAF sensor that comes with the L67. It's a simple swap, just time consuming when it comes to the brackets and pulleys. If you pull then engine though, you will get it done a lot faster...

I don't know how it is for the series I cars, but I know the series II cars used different transmissions between NA and SC and different chassis. An SC ECM will be confused if the NA style trans has different gearing, so you'll probably need to retune it regardless. If the trans is the same then carry on.
