New EPA Regs Make Our Cars Illegal?

Name calling often begets more name calling. Stay classy. ;)

You and turbo89 have done nothing but jumped all over me in this thread. WHY?

I'm not the one trying to screw the car enthusiast communities over, the EPA is. I'm calling for action and trying to get people to realize the repercussions of these proposed regs. But I'm the bad guy in your eyes?

Look back. I have never once called your intentions into question. The scare tactics? You bet. Intentions? Not once.

I've signed the petition, I've written a letter to my Congressman. I might even join whatever grass roots group that might come together against this unreasonable power grab. What more would you like me to do? Sign your form? I'll do that when you can absolutely assure my in box won't be completely bombarded with e-mails for every frick'n cause out there begging me for money, whether I approve of them or not. Can you do that? Probably not.

The fact is, I find it hard to believe these proposals will actually pass, but that's only my opinion. You obviously don't share that opinion and that works for you. No worries.

We are simply at an impasse.

That said, a U.S. dollar bill and the fact that this is one single, solitary internet message board might get you a cup of coffee, somewhere.......:)

Good luck to you.

Many people in this thread wondered how these regs could be implemented and I answered. That amounts to "scare tactics" to you?

You do realize these fines stack, right? The fine is PER piece of equipment that is in violation.

So if a manufacturer sells 100 units and each are in violation, that's $37,500 x 100; or $37,500,000.00 in total fines.

If you have 3 pieces of equipment on your car that are in violation, that's $3,750 x 3; or $11,250.00 in total fines.

I can't afford the latter, let alone the former.

In my opinion? Yes.

You obviously have an issue with giving consideration to the opinions of those who disagree with you. Work on that.

So, all in, it is what it is.

Now I'll be blunt. Stop barking up this tree, there is no cat hiding up there. You have plenty of others out there you should be trying to convince. I am not one of them. We will call this done now.

Again, best wishes and good luck to you. I hope that this BS does not end up hurting you and/or any of us in the end run.

The EPA better add a lot of ZEROS to those numbers to help pay for all the lawsuits that will ensue due to their negligence in the Flint Water Debacle ...

IMO ... There is no amount of money the EPA could come up with to compensate those Families .. I hope the weight of the world comes down on the EPA

Just remember .. what goes around comes around .. The EPA is going to get shaken up in the very near future and it wont be pretty for them

Cars will be the last thing they are worried about

The federal government doesn't even want to help the Flint area by declaring it a disaster area so people in that area would qualify for federal funds. What makes you think anyone is going to get anything out of the EPA over that?

But let's say they get sued for what is happening in Flint and are somehow found liable. The EPA is getting sued over their actions that directly led to the Gold King Mine spill that polluted Cement Creek. And I don't see how they are going to get out of that situation unscathed at all.

But do you actually think the EPA is going to ever pay (out of their own pocket) for any lawsuits they lose? I think it is far more likely we, the taxpayers, will be paying for any judgments awarded against the EPA. I'd be surprised if anyone at the EPA even gets fired over that. In any case, I don't see the EPA's employee base being reduced and I don't see their attention being diverted or discouraged by lawsuits.

HUH .. no need to fire ... The lead EPA Culprit resigned ... the threads are just starting to come unraveled .. and it will be a long list that goes and a lot of changes to happen yet ..

They couldn't enforce a late charge from a library.

Illegal immigration is a much hotter topic to the federal government and that is totally unenforceable no matter way trump promises so anyone who has half a brain shud come to the realization that this is nothing more then utter BS and utterly unenforceable as well. some of u guys have been drinkn way too much of the federal government koolaid.....

From MI, a little south of Detroit. The water situation is Flint is unforgiveable.

Big difference with immigration because it has become so political. There is a lot more wide-ranging support against enforcing immigration laws, not to mention those who are in power now don't want to enforced them.

those in power now maybe..... nonetheless the EPA is a joke and isn't gonna do dick so ur crying wolf imo cause no one is listening to the EPA lmao.... they have no teeth cause its unenforceable just like gun laws are. there are too many cars on the road for them to do shit same with guns.

Again there are many ways around the statutes ... just look at all the cars running dummy CAT convertors , or cars that go in for emissions that quickly go from "RACE mode " to emissions approved mode ..

Are they really going to put a sniffer stop on public roads and check all cars ? How many HOT RODDERS are they really going to fine to make it not be a resource / funding issue .. not gonna happen

going after service providers.. sure that is a simple one that they can go after .. but there are many ways around that as well.
Current EPA emissions standards aren't even tested in ILLINOIS now ... its a simple No Code / No problem test ... its so simple to get around its not even funny...
They have no effective way to enforce it ...

What they are doing is putting panic in people for a reason ... think about what is being pushed
I say f$@k them all I'll drive my and continue to have fun racing my car and driving down to the beach in my car whatever laws they impose
