Throttle body size

Anybody know if there is a difference in size between a 99-00 regal tb and a 98 Camaro t/b? I know the 00 cam is suppose to be 65mm. But I'm trying to move to cable and away from fly-by- wire.
 
97-04 regal with L36 would be 65mm with L67 would be 69mm. I think I have a couple of them in my parts bins if you need one
 
look at running A northstar Throttlebody. They are cable. Many 3800 guys running them. Theres a nice adaptor available.

Thanks Murphinator. You taught me something new, I wasn't aware that the L=67 t/b was larger than the L-36 t/b. I was assuming them to be the same size. And thanks again for the offer of the L-67 t/b, which I may take you up on, as I haven't found the one I had.

I have heard of the N/star t/b, but don't know anything about them. I.e. size, will they set a code, need to purchase extra items in order to use them, etc.

What I am considering is swapping to the s/c parts I have and running them until the spring. I am still waiting on engine parts from the mach. shop for the 87 gn and since the weather is turning bad. The GN is being put up for the winter. The Camaro still has the 3800 in it w/a blown h/g. I still haven't found a rear for it, but in the mean time I could swap it over while I'm repairing the h/g anyway. Then run it on E-85 until the spring, when I should have a 8.8 or 9" rear for it. W/that being said, would either of you suggest using an hpt for tuning or just go w/the factory settings in the pcm?
 
you will definitely need a tuner to get your fueling dialed in on e85 not to mention to get your airflow modeling accurate with any change in TB and it sounds like get set up for boost as well ??, I have never run a northstar but recall one of things people like about it is the throttle ramps up quicker.

I haven't owned any L67 cars in a few years although am still around them as my daughter has one of our old regal gs's and a good friend of mine has one of my other old regal gs's and just went 12.8 @109 last month after adding an IC to it 249,000 miles unopened engine & trans.

Currently I have 3 LS1 f bodies which makes me assume since you have a 3800 Camaro it is a 4th gen ? is it manual or auto ? if it is auto the 7.5 10 bolt will survive pretty well , many 10 & 11 second auto cars on stock 10 bolts here is an eye opening link on the capability of the stock 10 bolt behind an auto:

The stock throttle body used on the L67 supercharged engines have a 69mm inside diameter outlet. The stock throttle body used on the Cadillac Northstar V8 engine has a 75mm inside diameter outlet.
 
2000 to a 2005 TB id also run a northstar Maf also for the larger TB. Therey are cheap and plentaful at any pick a part.

Okay, the car is a 2000/auto(4L60E). Which will remain stock for this period. I have a f/pump hot wire kit and am purchasing a v-booster from casper's as well as a Ls-1 maf adapter cable.

As for the rear, the other guys I have communicated w/tell me to sell it and get a better rear. But after reading the Ls-1 info, I may wait until I stick the 4.1 in it. I have not decided if I am going to go stroker w/it yet. I just sold the spare sg-1 short block I had, to help fund this project. So as far as the s/c goes, I like the idea of the 75mm option, just have to locate one. I'm going to try and use a 3.5" pipe to weld to the s/c for an intake, if too large. I will go w/the 3" pipe. And the hpt is a must.
GBGN-1, is that a kit you have pictured there? If so, where to purchase and price?
 
I just found my s/c t/b. Do you know if the v-booster will adapt to the north star unit?
 
I run a 99+ L67 throttle body on my FBody intake... the manifold side needed some hogging out to match up well enough.

Delt with Northstart/LS1 in the past... To me, didn't seem to really do much of anything. I actually liked keeping the stock style MAF setup (no couplers) and with a MINI AFC from ZZP, I can scale it enough to keep it usable.

Also had to drill a new hole and thread it to line up with intake manifold hole on top.

Hey jdredd, is your f-body n/a or forced induction? (It appears to be n/a.) I see where you tweaked it to fit. It still looks good.
By chance do you use a volt-booster and hptuner in your f-body? Any suggestions on which hpt to buy??? I see they offer one for about $500.00 and a pro for near $700.00. Since I will only be using it for a short time, I may just look on the E-bay for a used one. Any thoughts?

Its in my Grand Prix ... Since the FBody intake bolts on easily, it was a nice option to go with to get the TB onto the other side of the engine, as it is turbo'd.

I use this cheap method for a Voltage Booster @ https://www.zzperformance.com/blog/free-mod-higher-voltage/

I still use the old DHP PowrTuner for my tuning ... its a dead product, but still works well enough.

On the HPT it depends I guess... It looks like the big thing is the PRO hardware lets you hook up external sensors of sorts (major being a wide band) and being able to log all by itself (dont have to lug laptop around)

If you dont mind lugging laptop around to data log, but really want a wideband, you can get around that by using something like the EGR wiring to the PCM to do the wideband hook up as its a 5v setup ....
then log EGR parameter and mess with the raw/value and math to calculate out the AFR reading from the wideband.

I used the Racetronix fuel pump rewire kit on the wbody... nice plug and play setup.

Probably just bite the bullet for a new HPT Pro then.... Pricey, but well worth it in the end to have yer own tuner.
 
Now that I have the t/b issue settled, I only have to get the M90 & T/B modified?LOL!!!

Do you mean after I have it modified for the f-body? If so, I'm not sure. I'm going to see how well it performs w/the E-85 and 84# inj.'s I was thinking of swapping cams and better headers, but that is what drove me to just swapping in the 4.1. The $$$$. hahaha! I thought that would be cheaper?

I really like the f-body intakes. That is a nice setup. I'm rebuilding my GN, but I'm still looking for the right 3800 s2, s/c vehicle.
