So the car has sat for about a month until friday night. Finished up putting the new Rad in and switching exhaust housing back from a garrett to a Precision. I also changed the oil. The oil in the pan looked good. no shavings or anything. No hint of coolant or anything. Cut open the filter using a dremel. Cut a section of the filter material. Looks good to my eyes:

Then I looked down into the filter and found some shavings. Poured it into a container to try and catch it with the light:

Could this be from the dremel tool itself? I used a cutoff wheel around the top of the filter. Or is it bearing material. With 5w30 synthetic I was seeing around 50-60 psi of oil pressure while cruising. Idle was low at around 13 but not unusual for a TR. Switched over to a 15w40 and now seeing 65+ cruising and almost 75 getting on the pedal. At Idle I see around 25. Spools like mad and feels very powerful. Car has never seen knock and the tune has been conservative from the start. Of course this is also the car that that had a turbo disintegrate into it. I am seeing some oil out of the breathers but have been told that is normal. Drove the car about 4 hours away on saturday and it rode like a dream.

Opinions?

filter should be cut open with a filter cutter (like a large pipe cutter) , or tin snips
cutting with a grinder will leave metal and cutting disc debris inside the filter

Unless your are looking for a reason to go with forged internals...leave it. No noise, good oil pressure no problem. Worry about something else:)

When it(if) breaks we will build it stronger.

Looks normal to me, you'll also see similar things in your trans pan. Just normal wear....

Thanks friends! I plan to go hog wild when she goes. hopefully that wont happen until I can retire :angelic:

Looks like material caused by the dremel. Run whatever oil weight Steve V recommended and a wix filter or better.

Listen to this guy^^^^^^He runs 10's on his sig. Tune tune tune and it will live. No knock.

There wasn't any embedded metal in your bronze bearings iirc when I replaced your smashed compressor wheel
