Anyone else had enough of the way cops are being treated these days

Personally I think most cops are overpaid, do nothing and talk down to people too much BUT there are some good cops and these new Media hyped bullshit protests are out of control.

I feel that right is right and wrong is wrong.

These cops did nothing wrong.
They defended themselves.

Here is a police chest cam video that I believe shows what the Brown incident and many others would have shown if the officers had a camera running.

A scumbag being a scumbag and a justified shooting.

D
Well no doubt before this cop shot this perp, he was just another overpaid, do nothing, down talking cop like most are....as you put it.

I am very tired of the way law enforcement is being treated on a lot of fronts. The majority are good people with a horribly thankless job.

Yes, the media fueled cases such as Ferguson and the like drive me nuts. Constantly wanting to make something a race issue just to get ratings is beyond annoying.

Now with those things said, is there a problem with some people and methods practiced in law enforcement? Absolutely. As mentioned, there are a few bad seeds. That is the case in any line of work. But IMHO, one problem is the lack of appropriate punishment dealt to some of those bad seeds. It leaves a bad taste in the public's mouth to see someone get a lesser sentence for a crime (if they get one at all) just because they have a badge. And let's be honest. This has happened. Much more than it ever should have.
Add into the equation these ridiculous "no knock" warrants where the wrong address is stormed, the situations where a cop overreacts and shoots a guy for reaching into his car to get his paperwork after being instructed to by the officer, family pets being shot and killed, etc., and there begins to be a pissed off public. And rightfully so. Clearly some changes need to be made. Anything from being more careful to make sure you get an address correct before going into a house with guns blazing to better screening of applicants and better training of officers to make sure they are capable of keeping a cool head in a situation. Also, implimenting better tactics of defusing a situation as opposed to d-ck measuring contests from the arrogant "Respect my authorityyy!" bully a-hole that just makes a situation worse. Everybody here has probably dealt with this type. He's the one that stereotypical "bad cops" are based on in many cases.

All of that text to say, in some cases, useful, respectful protesting or other chosen forms of publicly letting the powers that be know changes need to be made, I am ok with. The "hands up, don't shoot" BS protests and the like... Not so much. And sadly, those get the media coverage the most.
And IMHO the biggest problem is the lack of appropriate punishment dealt to people who talk shit and act like assholes to cops. If these people will do it to cops, the people who can throw you in jail, they'll do it to anyone.

There was a time when if you did that, you'd get one upside the head. Guess what, chances are pretty damned good you wouldn't do that again....lesson learned.

But our politicians, the legal system and the media have done their best to go after cops for teaching those members of our society who sorely needed a lesson in respect.

We all like to think that respect is earned and all that but the truth is, the most basic ingredient of respect is...fear. If you remove the fear, then you end up with the society we have today. A society which thinks it can do anything it wants, when it wants and when things don't go according to their plan...it's someone else's fault.

"Personally I think most cops are overpaid, do nothing and talk down to people too much BUT there are some good cops"

Really? Where are you from? Overpaid? Do nothing?

Did you ever consider that it's not what cops do, but rather what they MIGHT have to do? Ever try to chase a suspect in a dark alley and get split up from your partner? Put a price on that!

Ever talk to a woman who was shot in the face, in a robbery attempt and lost her unborn child? Put a price on that!

I bet you one of these people:

I personally have had bad experiences with cops and even crooked cops so all i have to say is extremely negative, i won't even say what i want. However i will say this:

98% of you guys with all do respect think a Police Officer is an enforcer or some type of above the law human who can use lethal force or taze the shit out of someone if need be.

SMH - a Police officer is to protect and to serve. What are you protecting or serving by killing another unarmed human being? Themselves?

I think the psychological portion of the job testing needs to be looked into. Alot of these officer's should not be holding fire arms nor given the right to hold one.

I'm sorry but i stay away from a man in uniform. I don't like the way they act the persona the cockiness. It's sad maybe even ridiculous the way they speak to civilians. They don't seem to respect, well atleast 99% of the time i have ever been pulled over its this alpha male wannabe human that is taking his job to the extreme and acts above the law because he has that firearm next to him. That's my opinion.

An off duty Police officer killed my unarmed friend. few yrs back.

They stated my buddy was drunk being aggressive. He was unarmed? WALKING! Because he was always saying he respected the law and never wanted to risk someone's life DUI And the off duty wasn't even in uniform..not even in his patrol car... SMH RIP Andrew.

87chrisss, if I had to guess, you have some kind of criminal record. Am I right? And we do protect and serve... We protect and serve law abiding citizens. Criminals get what they deserve. If they deserve to be treated like a gentleman, yes some criminals act like gentleman. Then they get treated as such. But if they don't, that's why we have tools. Det. Parker, Det. Rafferty, PO Mosomillo, were all killed in NYC by unarmed individuals. Go tell your line of s#@t to their families.

No criminal record. Clean you want my name to search me up? Born and raised rough patch of land called MIAMI - So basically you judged me because of what i have to say. You assumed i had a criminal record? IS that what you also do search to see who LOOKS or ACTS like a criminal? Great JOB bud. Let me tell you your a shining star.

Im outa here i apologize if i offended anyone or any good police officer's but atleast once in your life im sure more than 50% of people have had a horrible experience with a cop or have been treated unfair. Just like i was right here on this board. NUFF SAID

You right! I do look for people who look and act like criminals. A person who is wearing a ski mask on a hot summer day, a person who is standing in a group of people and immediately walks away when a police officer approaches, a person who looks into car windows walking down the block, a person who rings door bells and walks away... Should I keep going?

You expected different response, didn't you? No, I really don't give a shit whether you black, white or hispanic. I don't care how old you are or what you are wearing.

I love how you are so defensive and are quick to not care about me or what i have to say but you should because i pay you with my tax dollars you need to care and stop being so blind. You are here to serve me asshole not the other way around so i dont give a shit what you have to say I'm your boss! NOT the other way around. Your here to protect and serve the public. Not paid to not give a shit .

"serve me asshole not the other way around so i dont give a shit what you have to say I'm your boss! NOT the other way around."

LOL. See how easy it was to get your true colors out? I'm done, let me go find an intelligent person to talk to.

Good night

I understand how some people may not like the Police due to the experiences they may have had in their life. Besides our Constitution and Military/Veterans...do not forget the entire reason you can sit on your computer in COMFORT is because there are Police out there making your environment safe. Sure, you can say "if someone kicks my door in I got a .45 for them". In other words you will always have to be on alert, never relax and wait for someone to bust in because that is how it would be if the Police were not out there risking there lives so you can post without worry about how much you don't like them.

Sorry bud, i was upset. Regardless we all have our views. Sorry man, maybe you do protect and serve and maybe you are a good cop but cant blame me for having a bad taste in my mouth. I just stay away like i said before.

You are here to protect and to serve the public though and i do pay your fantastic salary and pension with my tax dollars. I deserve to be respected. Again sorry for the outburst of negativity. Your cop alpha male role tried to take me on i guess i wasn't with it. You would have probably shot & killed me already if we were arguing in real life.. :dead: Or maybe just roughed me up with two of your buddies and thrown me in jail for i don't know disturbing the peace or maybe being aggressive.

Some protect and serve. Most do not. When I get pulled over, once every three years or so, I am respectful every time but yet I get talked down to 90% of the time. Thats a crock of shit. I stand by my comment. Over paid and do nothing!

You can’t intimidate everyone.

Either way, I still think cops are getting a raw deal with this new protest epidemic over scum being scum.

D

might help some members out, to be on their best behavior driving through. we all know all departments are not created equal depending on what they have to deal with on a daily basis

By 1986 I had been driving for 4 years and had been pulled over 55 times. I remember because it was the speed limit at the time. In my lifetime over 100. In front of the Judge many times. I've lost my license for 1 month, 6 months, 1 year and 5 years. Never a reckless or DUI. Just habitual offender. MOST of the time the officer was cool and cut me some slack or gave me no ticket at all. Very few were jerks. I always cooperated and was respectful. Attitude is key. If you are a dick you are going to get back what you give out.

Been to jail twice. Both for fighting. Now if you want to complain about authority those Correctional officers are a good start. F'n aholes!

Guess what, i too have had bad experiences with cops in the past, even crooked ones....but it's in the past.

"Use lethal force or taze someone if need be". Yup, you're correct.....IF NEED BE.

Yup, cops, like all other persons in this country, are allowed to protect themselves. No need to shake your head at that.

So when do they start giving psychological exams to all the people in this country who own firearms? At least cops get tested. ;)

Well I hope you also stay away from doctors, lawyers, politicians, newsmen, pilots, firemen, bankers, construction workers, truckers, athletes, race car drivers, GN owners, Vette owners, etc....cause many of those folks can be quite cocky too.

So the off duty cop just shot your buddy cause he didn't like the way he walked? Is that what you're more or less saying? I'm sure there's more to the story. Was he drunk? Were you drunk as well? People do some crazy shit when under the influence....

You sound like the unprofessional cops he is talking about.Walk up to me out of uniform, talk your Shit, tell me you are my boss and you will get your ASS handed to you.
You can't even read....no wonder you're always so angry. :asshat: These things " " are called quotation marks.

Screw being respectful....just tell the cop how you really feel, don't be fake. ;)

I would venture to say these guys are not in the North East....but I could be wrong.
