Gained 90+HP on the dyno today with Boostane additive.

Very nice dyno results. What fuel did you use for the 517 dyno pull listed in your signature?

That was done on a portable dyno that was at a local car show. I can't recall the timing, but I did add some extra degrees of timing, and also some race gas for safety. It wasn't a straight 93 octane pull in other words.
 
Sounds like you have a great combo that runs well on pump gas also. I would think that the et & mph in your signature would take close to 500 hp and to me that's outstanding on pump gas only.

When you add this stuff,it is no longer 93 octane. It's octane that you add to your fuel. Whether the octane you buy is already in the fuel or you have to add it makes no difference. It's octane. The only question to ask is how much,per gallon,does it cost to make 110 octane verses buying it already made.

No but he meant to post and you can tell a 2 yr old spells Tttdr tz = turboz. They jus start so early now on these phones and im sure he hears turbo alot. Lol:)
 
The turbo is a Precision 6466CEA. The intercooler is a custom-made front-mount. I think it's from a bus actually. I've had this combo together for a few years now and the highest I could push it without knock was around 21 psi. Now I don't see knock until above 25 psi. I'll keep it set at 23 to be on the safe side.

Oh and about the mixture. I've tossed the empty bottle already, but it did have a chart on the side. I added one bottle to 15 gallons, so I'm not sure if that equates to 103 octane exactly... I was going by memory.

On a side note, I'm getting a taste of what it's like to have an alky system. This boost and timing is what I COULD BE running with an alky kit. All I got to say is Wow! The car is a different animal at 23-24psi and 20 degrees timing! Me thinks I like the idea of adding alky, rather than having to spend $25/can and look like Dr Jeckle/Mr Hyde mixing diabolical chemical formulas at the gas station. You shoulda seen the looks people were giving me. I had the medical inspection gloves on and everything. lol.
Exactly.. your engine setup is what a typical high 9 second combo would be running on pump gas with an alky kit. Its just detuned to run on pump gas..

Wonder how this stuff would differ from dropping in a can of Xylene?

You can figure out the cost from this chart on the bottle, its about 22.50 per qt., and I meant I didn't wanna push it due to not having any fail safes of race gas or alky on a not much tested formula..

What's plugs you running I can run 23/24 lbs of boost with 32 oz can of torco at 18/19* of timing and I run ur5 ngk plugs gapped a tight 0.28 . Car flys I keep afr at 10.8 . Love it . I think I wanna try this boostane stuff . Does Cal Hartline sell it . My turbo is 70hpq 83 lbers n BS3
 
This is a great thread. TOOMANYMODZ have one of my favorite buicks seeing that everything prior to this test was on pure 93. Thanks for this info and great test results.
 
Octane boosts and xyline (sp) were very popular for these cars in the 90s.
Most of the octane boosts that I've seen, leave deposits on everything. Not sure if that's changed.
Alky actually cleans, and is consistent. I haven't seen this topic posted in a few years. Great thread.

It leaves a small orange/brown residue they say is the burning of one of their main anti-knocking agents.

I can't recall which plug. I'll check when I get home. They're gapped at .030. Today I made a couple of passes with the Boostane. I was able to run 23 psi boost with 22 degrees timing and the engine liked an AFR of 11.2. A new best of 10.67. My prior best was 10.98 using straight 93, 20 psi boost and 19 degrees timing.

Very nice ! Yeah I don't go up in timing no more than 18 at 24 lbs I have iron heads . Been fine like that for years I don't want to get to greedy with timing I don't want to hurt it . My motor has been going strong for 9 1/2 yrs on same Rjc head gaskets .
