Track Times - Need Opinions

I got out to the track Friday night and the best run was a 12.14 . Time slip and power logger file is attached. I am manually shifting the 2-3 shift. Does 109 MPH sound right? I thought with a TE 44 and the 212/212 cam it would MPH higher.
Converter is commanded to lock at 85MPH in the 6.1 chip, but the slip % still hangs around 10%

The target is to get into the mid 11's

I am using an AEM inline wideband if you are looking at the power logger file and the action starts at frame 1689.

Any ideas or opinions is appreciated.

Thanks

Go to the config tab in Power Logger and hit the adjust button and add these values to Third Gear CS Value and Fourth Gear CS Value. It will then show you converter slip on the graph tab.

I really don't know, I found them on the full throttle forum when I was trying to enable converter slip on my power logger.

Thanks anyway. I could not find it on Full Throttle's forum.

Maybe Bob or Mike can answer.

I ask b/c it stands to reason these values would change based on gearing and/or tire circumference.

I would be curious to hear what some of the more experienced guys have to say, but I would think with the cam you have you would want to up your shift points, are the heads stock unported? Also, with alky, you may want to richen up the mixture, or at experiment going a little richer. What is the track elevation?

the cam is too big for a 44,(11 sec turbo,9 second cam).a small roller or stock cam works real good with the 44.combo is real important on these cars.a bigger turbo and ported heads will works real well with the 212/212.

I have stock heads, and manually shifted 2 - 3. I need more seat time and will try and bring the rpm's up higher. The elevation here is 2200'

I got talked into the cam by the local builder up here and didn't realize it was that much of a mismatch. I would be happy with consistent 11.5's
I will have all winter to think about next steps as the local track will be closing here in the next few weeks. The current torque converter stalls at 2100 rpm @ 0 PSI and 2250 at 5 psi.

Would a higher stall converter help compensate for too much cam or do I swap the cam?

Opinions appreciated.

Thanks

I would try the transmission tech or general tech section, you may get some additional input.

I wouldn't worry about the cam. It's not slowing you down much at all. Keep adding boost and fuel till it stops making power. Keep the rpm down.

What valve springs and what seat pressure on them?

Also with 10% slip either your converter isn't trying to lock at all due to a wiring issue or it is locking but the clutch is wiped out and not holding. 10% slip is what I'd expect to see unlocked from a converter like that. One thing to gain from a higher stall converter is a better launch without having more slip.

I have the comp 980 springs but I don't know what the seat pressure is. The builder gave me a cam card and a box of stickers.

I went 11.53 with the same combo just had ported heads at 23 lbs boost (all I could get with it) I was trapping at 116 with a ptc nlu 3000 stall

How much boost was that pass?

I notice with my car I can get a decent e.t with low boost but the mph is down.

On 15-16 psi my car will run 12.0 @ 110 not really a blistering mph but decent e.t

A few more psi 17-18 the car dropped to 11.80 @115

No changes to timing 19psi it ran 11.50@ 118 ( this was an older converter at the time)

It's not until I get into 21-22 psi I start to see 123 mph....... I have not made a pass over that boost so this is where my data stops.

I don't care much about the mph at lower boost levels...... The TQ is there and so is the e.t as long as the mph and e.t increase with boost and no knock then your good!

I was running 25 pounds of boost. My MPH seems low compared to other te44 combos I see on the board and that is what got me wondering about the converter.

russ87gn what kind of 60 foot times were you getting?

Thanks
