I just HAD to post this since I"d had so much trouble out of the first 4l80 trasbreak valve body that I"d purchased.

I made a post about the seriously poor service & operation of a vendors valve body. Jake of Jake"s performance transmissions replyied with a post that he"d send me a free valve body just for posting feedback. I felt the very least I could do is send some money to cover shipping. which he didnt ask for OR want.

well, with the new valve body in, the trans still had a slight slip going into 3rd gear, jake stated the clutches had probably slipped with the other valve body and the clutches would show they"d been slipped.

pulled the trans and took it to a local NON performance trans guy, told him to pull the guts out and look at 3rd gear, sure enough , it looked just like jake said it would, he stated all that needed done was replaceing these { they still looked brand new,but yo could see where they had been slipped} so I told the guy to replace only the 3rd gear clutches, put it back in and WALLA !!!! this has got to be the baddest 4l80 on the market !!!! apparently the first valvebody had a circut Or pressure problem that jake was familiar with.

my car makes just over 1000rwhp and this trans shifts nice and firm at part throttle and Immediatly under WOT !!!!!! I STILL can"t believe how damn good it works !!!!

If your looking for a stand alone NO electronics. trans break, forward pattern valve body OR complete transmission you HAVE to keep Jake in mind... this guy didn"t know me from JACK !!!!

I STILL CAN"T BELIEVE WHAT THIS GUY DID FOR A COMPLETE STRANGER !!!!! I can tell you I have a couple of HIGH dollar transmissions, and have NEVER had this kindof service.

anyone in the henderson KY area is free to stop in and go for a ride . the transbreak release time was great also. I"d say it was just like a normal break release time. nothing like FINALLY haveing a bulletproof trans with overdrive !!!!!!!

THANKS AGAIN JAKE !!!!!

The fact that is requires NO ELECTRONICS is awesome!! The TH400 I have may be getting removed soon. I will have to look into this for sure!

11Bravo here too. 2/504th PIR

As far as the OMNI paint.... I used the epoxy primer, high build primer/sealer and their Black base coat. It got 3 coats of base and then was cleared with PPG 2120 clear. The black looks brown in certain light. I had to have the back section of the car painted after my T-top repairs. The front half had DBC 1200(i think) Straight black. Well the omni is straight black also. My guess is that it dyed back or there isnt enough solids in it. Thats what I get for trying to save a dollar!

Tell me more about installing the 4L80E.... Need an Ultrabell to adapt to the BOP bolt pattern? Driveshaft is a given.... I am not gonna waste time with my 200R4 and the Th400 needs another gear!

Airborne All The Way!!!!!!!!!!!

JP, I installed my first 400 years ago useing a tci adapter plate, it"s less than 1/4 inch thick, cost 50 bucks and held up to this day in a stage 1 car with a trans break. if the bell is to pricey for you the adapter is an option, just be sure to use the correct spacers/washers on the converter to make up the difference. {it"s actually 120 thousands or 1/8 inch thick }.. hope this help you. steve

This whole 4I80 thing is very confusing to me...but I'm still new with all this stuff. Does anyone have a link that I can read through that explains pro's/con's about this vs. the stock trans?

When I get back from Cuba I'm gonna be looking at getting a new trans cause I have a pretty big flare between 2nd and 3rd and want to get something for that long term!

jakeshoe- is it just the transbrake that you sell or is it the whole tranny? I have been looking into the 4L80E tranny for years now, but have not found that comfort level to make the swap. I would like to get a 4 speed back in the car again that can handle the power my drivetrain has to offer. Let me know

I like not needing the electronics. Might be in my future as well. Does it take the same converter as a 400?

We sell the transbrakes and complete transmissions.

We do electronically controlled as well as full manual.

Different converter than a TH400.

Can you do an automatic that requires no electronics? What years are the best cores from? My search is about to begin!! If nothing else I can upgrade to the gen3 BS3 to control the trans but want to keep the gen1 for now. Getting excited!!!!:biggrin:

Mike one of my buddys has a 4L80 in his street 305 Camaro.. Mid 9 @ 142+ street car. driven all over the place like we do with our Buicks. If we ever reach that level thats what we will go with

hello people; Did anyone go to Jakesperformance website? I read he can do a fixed line to eliminate the TV cable to control pressure.
Ck. it out and see if it makes sence to you.

Not to get too off topic, but how is he getting that kind of power out of a 305? Huge power adder, or is it not really a 305?

his little ol 305 is basically like a Stage 2 Buick.. Alum block and all the good stuff in it. 76 Turbo . IF he pulled up to you you would really see a damm thing. Quiet to !! He bought the car new. 9.6s with pump gas an Alky
He has different rims on it now but the car is the same plain old IROC

I've seen it and it's sick. If you saw it, you would think it's just another slow Guidomobile. Get close and look carefully and you'll see all the engineering (maybe!). It is very impressive.
