At this point the rule change is just rumors. To my knowledge, Kip has not spoken up publicly about rule changes. So to be fair.... I have asked Kip to repond on the other forum. So lets give Kip or whomever an opportunity to answer and clarify the rumors.....

There have not been any rule changes at ths point. Kip said that any changes will not cost someone a lot of money, ie turbo change. I myself Just got a 6768, I'm planning on my car being as fast as my old tsm car next year with more reliabilit (not what i wanted for this car...wanted a 10.0 car.) No one has a target on their back...just got to realize they do not want to scare off the mid ten guys. If they do, it will end up like tsm with low car count. Its not fun brining a knife to a gun fight...I've been there in tsm and this year in ths. Unfortunately for me i didnt have the resources available to be competitive in tsm...money, time and knowledge. There are many like me too. Ths was created to give people like me a class to race and have fun. When people start running away with the class, it hurts that guy. You guys may not see it my way...but whatever. I Switched classes to slow down..if I pop an engine early in the season from pushing it too hard...I'm out for the year. Again, there are many in the class in the same boat. Just think about it from that prospective. If you want to run mid 9s or faster run tsm. (Not directed at you Shawn....just a general statement).
I'm not trying to create internet controversy here...just stating my opinion...and That's what it is...my opinion. I personally would love a class the is 9.9-10.5. We all know a nicely built 109 will go a long time running those numbers. I could care less about bragging rights of who ran what...I just want a fun class to run with a high car count.

I posted about this when Kip had a draft of the rules up before anything was finalized. I suggested the 62 turbo limit......but was dismissed because he said he was looking at car count. I agree.....without car count.....there will be no race.......but at the end of the day.....there isn't....maybe not as much now......but in the future.....won't be a ton of difference inside a TSM motor vs. a THS motor.....it is only a matter of time. IMHO....the 62 would be a competitive class and keep the need for a big $$ shortblock to a minimum.......but then again....I'm just an armchair racer (for now) so my opinion doesn't count anyway.

Do what you want with THS.....

IMHO.....there still is a need for the bottom 10 to a high 9 sec class......I think it would get a good car count.....

Ok, here is one of the reasons the 67 is the limit....easy peer tech. With a 3x2 housing, there is no need for plugs and rings. If a 62 is the limit, every car will need to be at least plugged. It rules out any issues of undersized plugs or oversized housings. The 67 rule with the 3x2 housing makes tech easy with no grey area.

Well that and every tom dick and harry started buying 67's several years ago so there's a ton of them out there.

To keep a few cars from running away from the rest. Kinda like what NASCAR does. The mid ten sec car owners may not show up if people start running 9.5s. A 9.8-10.5 field would be great imo..
I may not have a dog in this fight but was also thinking of running in THS and still am.. Why not just try and work on your combo's like the cars running away from the rest did? Why not try to figure out what the others did "Under the Rules" instead of choosing the easy way out of just changing the rules??? The way this looks right now, this looks as if you can't beat em, Change the rules.... and that don't look good for the vendors that sponsor the class..... Just sayin

edit....somehow my quote got hosed up......it was supposed to be directed at KevinB......

I understand that......I was mainly talking about limiting to bottom 10 or high 9......

IMHO there will be some sub 9.50 cars next season in THS.......there will be some TSM cars that will be happy with a 9.50. not a lot of difference.

do the 3x2 housing on the 62......or maybe I didn't fully understand your point on easy to police the 67's vs the 62.....

No one makes a 3x2 housing on a turbo bigger than a 67 (right now), and if someone all of a sudden went WAY to fast we still have the turbo plug to fall back on to check the turbo.

This happened in the TSM class and most gave up.. a few of us kept trying instead of giving up. ;)

67 is the limit in a 3x2 housing as far as we know.

Wow, I can sure see where this is headed and FAST...... LOL

I guess you missed the point. No cop-outs...trying to help out car count. We would hate to have a ths class canceled at a race due to not enough cars showing up. A mid ten guy is going to lose interest in a class when there are cars a second faster. Trying to find a solution to restrict air flow for a car to make mid 9 sec power would be great while still allowing 67 turbos so no one has to buy a new turbo is what is in the works.

Why is it you know so much about what is going on yet the Racers are not to be involved in the rules ?

Because I have actually picked up the phone and have talked to Kip and ed about the rules. Making sure what I'm doing next year is legal. They don't mind for people who are going to race the class to give their 2 cents.

Yeah but even if they make everyone get 3 inch air filters (or whatever) that is stupid because I just saw a THS car runs 9 seconds TONIGHT with 3 inch air.
So then I would remove my intake tube that was a pain in a$$ to weld and special filter that probably doesnt even make my car fast (Ive never been Nines) and then buy newer filters and such that dont look as nice.
End result: I was forced to spend money and i will still eventually be in the nines if other guys are doing it with small filters.

I can see everyones points and most of you seem to have valid ones. We cant all be happy or pleased with changes but guess what???We were all happy before everyone started talking about change. So WHY CHANGE anything? We just got a high car count why screw it up. I think if there is ever has to be change we should wait one more year and have more data and see how it goes.
I like to change things when they dont work, not when they do but thats just me.
Obama likes to change stuff, lets ask his opinion. I am sure he could help socialize all the buicks classes if thats the goal.

No I didn't miss the point!
* Help car count? Wasn't the car count this year the most it has ever been? or are you & Kip just Assuming the car count will be hurt without truely knowing?

There is always a fast guy to beat in Every class and there are the slower guy's trying to beat the top guy... It's been like that as long as Iv'e been alive and I bet it will still be like that when i'm dead and gone too So why all this talk to keep it a Mid 10 class when it will NEVER be? You mentioned NASCAR as an example but you failed to notice all the Negativity that NASCAR has taken on since those stupid rule changes and restrictor plates... and what you guy's are wanting to do is pretty much the same thing... "Restrict"! The days of "Run what ya Brung" are long gone.....Ahhh the joy's of racing.

Any racer can contact them through here, email or whatever.
Kevin,

Why should the Racers have to contact them behind closed doors? Should'nt them as RRA's of this class be openly posting up their thoughts of the class so ALL racers and possible future entrants (That would make car count better) can see whats happening ?

This "I'm thinking of changing rules, but you have to come to me to find out what" thing is pretty off putting if you ask me and not fair to the racers..

The NASCAR racers may bitch about the rules but whenever I tune into a NASCAR race the cars usually seen pretty even to me.

Yeah run what you brung ...
As long as it fits the rules.
