am in need of somebody to break down knock retard and what my readings to be, i just bought a GN and don't know too much about em, and don't know how hard the last owner was pushing the car. and i definitely dont want to blow my turbo over the last owner tuning the boost up too much.
Thanx to all the readers and any reply's and info are greatly appreciated.

Knock retard=Bad

Turbo isn't what will get it hurt if it knocks, motor is.

Knock retard is The computer pulling timing out of the motor due to detonation, the best way to prevent knock retard is to run the best gas (highest octane) available in your area, then use a safe amount of boost to coincide with that octane rating. NOTHING is set in stone but there are general #'s to go with octane ratings. These are provided your car is tuned correctly. Do you have a boost gauge and some kind of scan tool?

Yes I have a auto meter boost gauge an scanmaster 2.1.
what's the easiest way to tune my car correctly to spec?

Thanx. Appreciate all the help. I'll get back at you guys with the know mods later in the day.

it has an complete exhaust system from ATR, bigger radiator from griffin, SMC alcohol system, i know it has bigger injectors not to sure of lbs, it more than likely 40lbs. but i know the fuel pressure was set to 45psi, and installed is a ATR (applied technologies chip).
a heated oxygen sensor kit, it has a EVANS waterless cooling system, Any info on this to me will be greatly appreciated, an billet adjustable regulator, ATR cold air kit, i believe my boost is at 15psi, but not sure how to check it, and don't think there is a boost controller installed, where is the most common location for a boost controller?
To my knowledge that is all i can find, is there anything esle i should look for?

first of all....WELCOME TO THE DARKSIDE! Yes see if you can find out from previous owner is there any tranny work done and what size convertor if so.....and also is the rear stock with 3.42 gears

I'm trying now to get ahold of the previous owner.
THANX, everybody for all the info and help.

You need a boost and fuel pressure gauge immediately. And are you seeing knock retard on your scanmaster?

I'm the 3rd owner talked to the 2nd owner and he put a walbro fuel pump, i think that's how you spell it, also i'm still trying to reach the 1st owner, as far as the 2nd owner knew going by the codes it's a stock rear end limited slip with the stock 3.42's

sorry its oil pressure and boost, but there is a fuel pressure gauge installed on the fuel rail.

you can t-off the fuel gauge on the rail and run to hood with a bracket and monitor fuel pressure at all times  i just installed one yesterday i love it..and it looks BAD ASS!
