Hose issues

Went to my local auto parts store today & had to order both radiator hoses.

They had the 2 formed heater hoses in stock & they were formed/manufactured in 1985. I had to order them also.

Maximum shelf life on rubber products is 7 years.

Heard about one of those roll over special Exploders with 9 year old tires - killed all the occupants. Not worth driving on old tires. Also, why install out of date rubber on your TR, just to have it fail on a dark rainy night in a cell phone dead location?

Someone better tell my 1973 Dodge Charger SE that. It has 31000 miles on it and was brought out of storage after 25 years last summer. We put 1150 miles on the original tires, hoses, belts doing the Chrysler Classic events. I have never heard of hoses having a shelf life, plus just because it is for a 87, doesnt mean it was made in 87. Those hoses are still made today, but in smaller batchs. Same as my 62 Chevy and 64 Dodge. I had 2 NOS rad hoses for my 65 Plymouth Super Stocker that I sold with the car. They had absolutely no signs of deterioration.

Dont be afraid, run what you get.

I wish I had your luck, would save me lots of time & money. A local TV special featured the father of the teen who was killed in the roll over special.

Tire age had nothing to do with the Firestone/Explorer problems, underinflated tires did... Be glad you can still get the TR hoses... they are hard to find...

they had the father of one of the few people that died when their Explorer rolled over, but they didn't have the fathers of the MILLIONS of people that didn't die when their Ford Explorer didn't roll over...
