What kind of lives some GNX's had?...

It was 317 or 319 In allentown PA I went in the late 90's and bought the wheels, dash plaque , drivers seat /console for my old 86 I was fixing up for $800.00 !!! the car was wrecked into a concrete bridge it was definalty beyond repair looked like a huge V passenger frame rail was up against the trans !! guy bought it back from insurance cheep and was parting it at the time only thing that was gone was the engine / intercooler setup. I wanted the rear setup but did not have the cash (broke as a joke) he had to have $1,000 for that .... :frown: think it was worth 1,000 !! I sold the wheels for $2,800 4 years ago.

O.K., O.K........I only have pics of them all sitting in the shop and it's a few diff pics but they're all there, I'm taking them all outside this weekend for you guys weather permiting and get some good pics with them all in 1 pic & with just the Buicks and just the TTA's!! Give me a few mins to find my picture card with the pics I have now and I'll post shortly!!:) :)

I would love to see those cars someday. Might be awhile sense your all the way on the other side of the country. Planing on doing a US cruise some day to see all the differnt car shows. Only a few in my town and I know all the guys with GN, need to see some other cars.

These are old pics of my 85 right before she got sold to a member on this list. He said he was going to do a restoration but it was in WAY better condition than the GNX. Sad.

Man, and I was thinking mine looked bad. Bought mine from a guy who got it from a freind, was just sitting under a tree when I can across it. Got to love craigslist, any ways the guy who had it before him tried to gangsterfie it. Had chrome wire spoke wheels amp wires running all over, blew out every stock speaker, didnt take care of the engine had a leak in the up pipe and burned the hood insulation. Was repainted with clear coat that is now peeling off. And he let his Girl freind drive it, she backed it into something and bent the bumper, cracked the filler, and tweaked the frame a little. And the header panel has been replaced with a T-type. Kinda scared to know what this ca went trough. Also when I got it the guy had all the wires to the ign ****** up. Took me over two weeks to get it running. Pushed it home a few times. The car has about 312,000 on it but I drive It as my daily driver. With this many miles no point in garage, more fun to drive it and get the looks. Has more damage now, Had it parked in front of My moms house and the I visiting some people next door backed into it. Bastered try running to. Got the guy to come back, had no current license, or insurance. Looks like im paying out of my pocket for another bumper filler.

vanman1120, very nice collection of vehicles you have there. I gotta ask......... do you start/drive these cars regularly? I certainly hope you do. Otherwise, in about 10 years your gonna have a lot of fluids all over the garage floor. I dont mean to sound rude, but I just hope they are started/driven every once in a while.................. I hate to see cars sit around and not used!;)

I'm speechless & in shock, never would I have believed that such a collection existed. What is the white over red Mopar parked in front of the white over red Charger?

Mine looked like it did because the original owner liked to drink and run from police. At least he took care of the engine. Before I did any mods, I pulled the pan and every rod cap. Every bearing in it looked like a low mileage use bearing. I got it with 106,xxx and sold it with around 116,xxx.

I don't see any from Michigan listed. A couple years back I saw one parked while I was driving down Woodward for the cruise. I rubbernecked it hard core and came within inches of rear ending whatever was in front of me. It was worth the scare though...

Only time I've ever saw one around here.

wow I did'nt see the begining of this thread !!!!!!! wow what a beautiful collection DuDe ! Youre the Jay Leno of Turbo Buicks

My friend has #395 here in the UK. Had it since 89/90 I think. If I remember correctly, it was origionally bought new and exported by a rich native of Saudi Arabia and bought by my friend when it came over here to the UK.

Has about 20k on the clock, driven and runs at the strip each year. Not abused though, in fact very much loved.

Origional turbo stored, car is in excellent shape. I actually ran it down the 1/4 last year. What a blast.

I own #20 it has 7500 miles and has had a number of engine combo's and now has a sbc with twin 76mm turbos..

I work on 311 all the time my buddies stans.

I has 305 and sold a couple of years back

I thought you sold #20, thought I read that somewhere?

No-- that was the car number, not displacement.

But along those lines, it would be neat to have #231, huh?

I was gonna say, woah, I better hope I don't get lined up with that one at a red light...what with all that V8 power and all. #231 would be a cool one to have though...

A story or 2....And a modern day GNX for sale

I have seen a few GNX's around and the one that gets to me the most is a car...not sure of the number...but is came in to Jeff's at trackside performance here in Pompano FL. Well this car is owned by a doctor who had it since new... the first thing i noticed was the paint was shot... faded beyond belief...the interior wasnt ripped... but dirty as hell and the carpet was shot... the dash had the usual cracks and the steering wheel was worn down... the car showed 110k miles.....under the hood looked it in everyway...

Why was it there... well the guy wanted to get it running again.. it had been sitting outside under his tree for a long while and he just wanted to get it back into running condition..... the car had rust on the quarters... minor but there and the car also had a million ant running through it from sitting in the grass... sad shape....

I offered him $15k and made a promise to restore it... well he insisted he was going to restore it himself... So i asked him where he was going to park it when it went home? HE said same place... I have no space in the garage .. my wife's Mazda SUV is there and my LEXUS so it had to go back under the tree....:(

Ok now the good stuff.......

I own a couple of modern day GNX's .... what is this? This is a CL65 Mercedes coupe...
THE MOST POWERFUL PRODUCTION CAR IN AUTOMOBILE HISTORY!!!!!!!....yes gents...this car came from the factory with 612hp and 738 lbs of torque...DETUNED...

It is in the books ....the car produces more torque then any other car every built period... HP? only the ENZO has a few more HP and the Mclaren F1 and ZR1 .but none of them produce the torque figures.... Torque moves A CAR ...not HP......The car is classified in supercar editorials as having the most powerful engine ever built ...

Since it is detuned...It is actually capable of 670hp and 880 lbs of torque but AMG felt the tranny would be on the brink of disaster and set the power back...a few guys have had the ECU reprogrammed and the tranny can take 1000 lbs of torque.....AMG overbuilt this car as Buick overbuilt the 3.8 TURBO

Only 194 were ever built in this body style...ONLY 194...AND LESS then 3000 cars to date have this super powertrain in it...

What makes this car so special? What made the GNX special? low production numbers and power? And the fact it was made by a outsourced co. Called ASC.... This CL65 is all that and a bag of chips...HAND built by AMG...super low production ..206 mph ungoverned top speed and it runs the 1/4 in low 11's with air conditioned seats and messaging seats....Reliable?... more reliable then our 109 motors are....not one has blown PERIOD....I am an avid fan of TR'S ... owned many .. MANY... but this Mercedes is a pinnacle of what the GNX once stood for....Comfort..class ,speed and being INCOGNITO....

Does it look fast? Not really ....it is sinister and mysterious....damn right!!!Like the GNX.... and it will whip your Vette's ass and your Lamborghini Murc's ass as well!!!!!!

The original MSRP was $184k on this car.....

only 194 built in 2 years.....

Link to my car for sale and more info.....go drive one gents...it is the smoothest fastest car you will ever drive in your life...

The GNX was ahead of its time...and so is this car....it was built to beat ferraris and lambos yet keep you comfortable....The GNX was the same....

A link to my car on ebay.....

I saw #052 owned by Krass and Bernie in Car Craft mag. Seriously.

When I lived in Fayetteville NC, before I really knew what a GN was, I recall someone drove a GNX to the Spring Lake NC car show at PD Quix. I didn't look at the dash to see what number it was, because I did not know at the time how rare the GNX was, much less what one was. I do recall the round gauges and a Scanmaster on the radio pod. I was there that day with my red '71 Chevelle.

Anyone know someone from Fayetteville NC with a GNX?

Michigan update for you, number 449 is from Michigan and at COBO hall for Autorama in Detroit as we speak. Didn't get a chance to talk to the owner as he wasn't around when i was there but it apears to be VERY well maintained and stock or pretty close to it visually from 6 feet away. Had a magazine spread from some car rag and looks as though the owner is in the military, as it was shot at some airbase with a pic of the owner in camo gear.

Hi

I was cruising the site and seen this post regarding GNX 449. Sorry I wasn't by the car when you came by. It is stock with 19000 miles on it. It was featured in the November 2008 issue of Mucsclecar Enthusiast Magazine. You are correct, I work out at Selfridge ANGB as an aircraft mechanic. That was how I able to get the car on the flightline as part of the photo shoot with the F-16. I had the car for just about 5 years now. I did have it on Woodward in 2004 and 2006. I entered it in the 2008 Autorama as well as this years, both times were a blast!

...All my GNX's and TTA's have original tires and paint except for GNX #136 doesn't have original paint job, the hard top TTA and pilot car #1 need a little work also, they're nice but all the others are CHERRY all original!!:D

vanman1120,
Very nice collection!

Does the TTA Hardtop have a cloth or leather interior?

Do any of the TTop TTA's have a cloth interior?

Dave
