White wire plug by alt

Anyone know what this wire is for? It is a male and female connector, but they are not plugged in together. Looks like two white wires on one end and one white wire on the other. It's by the alternator and a/c compressor.

That's odd. So what happens if I plug it in? My tach currently works fine.

its a tach signal for test equipment but could be used for an aftermarket tach , remeber the digital dash didnt have a tach and the stock led analog tach isnt very accurate

Okay, that makes sense. So do I plug the ends together? Seems odd to be unplugged.

No, do not plug together. The other end is for the fuel pump test

do not plug to the other plug , that other plug is for fuel prime and will have 12v , you dont want that injected into a 5v tach signal
