I have a 94k mile car that I am replacing the timing chain on. While I have it apart, should I change the cam or is this ALOT more work and just wait until I rebuild? I was thinking that Id just replace it with the stock cam...any input?

my motor has 226,000 miles with the original stock cam.i would wait for a rebuild before changing it out.:D

I've heard the stock cam can handle you well into the 11's in the quarter. Even if you were to replace it or upgrade it, they don't recommend you go much higher than stock. Basically the car doesn't need a radical cam because of the low rpms we turn.

Besides it is a hell of a lot more work than the timing chain..

My car is 300 miles from hitting the 150k mile point with the stock cam.

Thanks for the insight! I am just going to leave it alone for the moment.

keep the stock cam. My friend has gone 118.5mph with it in his stock 97K mile longblock with bolt ons (turbo, I/C, 009's, TH DP). He is shooting for 120mph next time out. 3800lbs with driver.

Don't change it until the stock engine gives up the ghost. The Buick engineers did their homework and it works well with stock heads.
