I picked up my new TTA from the S.F. Bay area last week and drove it 1,400 miles home to Colorado....Averaged 26.25 mpg (@70 mph) and used one half quart of oil

But, it didn't start out that easy. Any 'smokin' deal for a TTA buys you a part time job as mechanic and, touch-up and clean-up lacky for the next six months. ;) This deal was no exception. While the basic car is sound, it needs a LOT of TLC to bring it back to the point I'd take it to a show and shine.

This car had set most of the time for a couple years. The more I drive it, the better it runs. Some Chevron Techron cleaned out the fuel system and made a big difference in the way it runs.

RAZOR was helpful with his advice about high BLMs and a stealth adjustable FPR. Many thanks julio . When I thought I smelled gas in the oil (An oil change dispelled that notion), gofstbuick was there offering a bag full of parts if I needed them to limp back to Colorado. Thanks Joe! When I needed a place to diagnose and patch the car to be roadworthy, Bruce (WE4) was there with everything I could imagine at my disposal. Thanks to Bruce for the place to work; thanks to 'Little' Mark for the sage advice which limited the number of unnecessary changes to get on the road. Thanks to Mark (2quick2care) for his consultations in logical trouble shooting. And thanks to Adam for scouring the premisis for the tools I didn't have with me.
I was humbled by your old-fashioned generosity and assistance. Something I didn't expect and didn't know how to handle....Thanks!

While passing the Salt Flats Raceway in Utah, I did a quick 13 pound burst (against RAZOR's advice) and doubled the speed limit in a few short seconds. Stayed in the Casino a couple miles from the Salt Flats, which is about half way home.

Road Trips are all good :D

What was the speed limit you doubled??? :D

The truth is that I stopped at 130 mph....It was still pulling hard with 13 pounds of boost (36 degrees outside, so there was lots of density and cooling) Very stable at that speed. :D "Doubled" was an overstatement, I know some of you go that fast at the track every week

Road trips are great when you get to meet good people. I got to see my friend for the first time after talking to him on the telephone for the past 3 years. Lee, I hope you enjoyed your visit to Sacramento. I really looked forward to meeting you and was glad you had some time for us to get together far a meal.

The pleasure was all mine :)

The car is running a LOT better than when you drove it

No, it had 68k. It was Ed Wong's car from the San Jose area. I'm the third owner. I notified a good friend in the bay area that it was available, he bought it and decided not to keep it. So....I was 'forced' to buy it and take it home :D

Yup, same wheels....I'll make you a special deal if you MUST have those RONAL wheels ;)

That is the car....As soon as I fix the seat, heater core, T-top seals, install new shocks and struts, as well as a dozen other things, it will be a keeper. The body still looks almost as good as that picture. I don't understand why the spoiler is still perfect....But, I'm not complaining :D

:)

No, but I'd trade you this Ronal set for a stock set.... (Just kidding with you, I know you don't think much of that Ronal set on a TTA ;) ).
