removing trunk tention bars

how do i remove the horizontal bars from the trunk?




can it be reversed also?

Very carefully. They are under a LOT of pressure. I made a tool for it. Kinda grabs the enf, then you pry up and drop it down. Make sure the trunk lid is all the way up to take much of the tension off the bars.

Just have to ask.........Why would you remove them?

I don't know why you would want to remove them either but to adjust the tension I used a 16 inch pipe wrench. It has the teeth to grip it with and long enough for leverage. The teeth marks left behind are virtualy unnoticable. Drew

the reason..... i know its not making it faster but, i have some really great speakers that i got for a steal that i need to install and they will not clean the bars. i will try to sell them or go a different route if it can not be reversed.

GrimReaper, go to the car audio section and seek out Audiowizzard. I have recieved excellent advise from him in the past. Short of the tension bar thing, let him know what you are trying to achive and I'm confident he will be able to steer you in the right direction. Drew
