a friend of mine has an 87 park avenue 3.8 motor built attempting to clone a Lc2 motor (low compression pistons, blah blah, blah) he may be giving me that motor. i was curious to know if the internal parts (pistons, rings, main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, lifters, heads, on that 3.8 would be compatible on with the Lc2, i was wondering if it would be safe to use the parts out of that motor to use as a rebiuld for mine. any knowledge about this is apriciated
THanks in advancded,
Bryan

There really isnt anything on the FWD 3.8's that interchanges.
The heads and intake will bolt on, BUT you would need TTA style headers since the exhaust ports are very different than a RWD Buick head. The intake is also a 1 piece design and I believe the throttle body mounts on the opposite end than the thermostat housing does. The crank has a much smaller flywheel flange, the block has a FWD bellhousing pattern and the castings for the motor mounts are very different.
Unless you plan on putting the engine into a kit car OR another FWD GM car, I would pass on it.
