Quadrajet idle tube and metering rod sizes

Hi,

I didn't find this info with search or the manual, so perhaps you guys know it :)

I have a 1979 3.8 Litre turbo.
I took the carb to parts to clean and rebuild it.
In the process I managed to damage the idle tubes a bit, and thought it might be better to replace them with new ones to be sure.

Allcarbs.com seems to sell threaded tubes with different sizes, which would seem good for further tuning, but I couldn't find the size of the original tubes.

Is the size measured from the outside diameter of the smallest part ? ..perhaps called restriction ?
How about the metering rods, where should I measure the size of them ?

Finally, I have the book from Cliff Ruggles, which has e.g. proven recipe for 350 cid engines, but would someone here have some set of jets metering rods, idle tubes etc for the 231 turbo ?

Thanks again for your help :)

Cliff Ruggles sells all the parts you would need. Do a search, he has a website. To order you have to call him with your carb number.
