PT-51 drama

Does anyone know if the PT-51 drama is over?

I have a PT-51 that I would like to either rebuild or make it a PT-54. I have a 9/11 3000 stall and my TA-48 seems to small.

The problem with the 51 is the oil seal leaks, so... Should I go with a PT-51 or make it a PT-54 when I get it rebuilt? How much turbo lag will I suffer from with either size? Right now I pretty much have no lag.

I havent gotten no emails lately so what they're doing to them must be working.

Harry mentioned the wheel to housing clearence being too tight to start with and they have started machining more clearence in.

I would personally not want another one but again I havent heard any of the (improved) models breaking.

Thanks for the reply. What brings you to the NW region? Are you doing a search for 51?

What kind of lag do you think I'll get with a PT-54 using a 3k stall?

My car is not a daily driver so I'm not to concerned with streetability.

I have no experience with a 54 turbo so cant help ya out there

Not at all, I'm sure had you not experinece the issue's that you had, you would have felt that the PT-51 was an all around good turbo for use.
