PSC remote reservoir mounting

I decided to go with a PSC remote reservoir for my hydroboost system. I had issues with pump whine and aeration inside the res. The PSC has a great way of baffling the fluid through a means of running the inlets at the bottom as well as filtering the oil and reducing aeration. All oil coming in from the return gets filtered.

Now here is the bad part. Where the hell do you mount it? It's rather large in size. It needs to face a certain way to run the lines. The lines cannot face the AC pump because of clearance. If the res is raised for line clearance the res will hit the hood. I wanted AC so I had to come up with a mount. It just happened to fit nicely with the lines running toward the fire wall. I have a straight shot to the HB return, I will 90* the pump feed directly to the pump, and 180* the gear box return under the res back to the gear. SO here is the mount in pure "make it up as you go" form. I used some left over brackets from a hot air car, twisted some angles, and made a mounting plate for the res to fit in. I attached the mount right off the accessory bracket which holds the ac compressor on, and the bracket that goes to the headers... It fits like a glove.

SO for others that have puzzled themselves on where to mount...see the pics.

Nice. I had Lee build me a custom reservoir before they closed. I hope it works. That looks great! Tell us if it fixed the noise. Did you upgrade your pump?

yea, went with the Jones pump. All the rest of the plumbing comes today so it will get a start up.

Did you say that you have a filter? Is it inside the reservoir? I need to look into plumbing one in. I remember somewhat of your other thread, did you get a Talon Hydraulics hydro or Hydrotech?

Thanks

I kept my original HB. Just had terrible....horrible whine and foam. This unit has a wix cartridge filter bolted to the inside of the housing. All oil on return comes through it. Immediately on first start up...hardly any whine. Lock to lock a few times, no air AT ALL!! This system feels completely different and a strong pedal and good steering. Here is a short vid

Ooooooh I remember those days back when I didn't have the PS whine. So what did it take to fix it? A new PS pump and reservoir?

This whole issue is caused by the lack of space and fluid to keep cavitation from happening. I bet if you got a new reservoir and baffled the flow the whine would go away

After 50 or so miles of driving over the weekend...no noise...no grab...no pulsating of the brake pedal. Issue solved.

Im considering switching to hydroboost when I found this thread and concerned about possible pump noise. I was just going to follow the Cedar Labs thread on here. Do you recall the part number for the PSC reservoir?
Also I am assuming I would need to switch to flexible pressure steering hoses instead of OEM?
Thanks

In order to follow what I did you would have to change over to all an 6 lines. It's expensive. I believe this entire setup with lines and all was about 400$ but I never have to worry about it again. As for the part number I don't quite remember. I know you need to get the one made for HB. It has the cap which is vented. I opted for the brushed alum type.
