Why not, my daughter has been driving powered vehicles since she was 1. 3 point turn since 2. Now she drives well with ProjectCars I setup with a logitech G27 wheel, shifter and 3 pedals. She's 8. Totally possible. She can drive a golf cart just fine too.

What that 8 year old kid did was nothing short of remarkable and even more so was a tremendous PR advantage for McDonalds...if only they had a camera crew on site!

At the very least McDonalds oughta see he and his sister gets a cheese burger at least once a week.

Not seen photos of the van he drove but it had to be bigger than most cars....
