Has anybody ever come across a block with a different deck height of .025" between the two sides of the block ? is that possible in a untouched block? I have a engine that has a .025 " difference in push rod lengths between the two heads to obtain the same preload . The block is supposedly new and came from a oil research company . thanks.

If you haven't measured the actual deck height, it could be a combination of factors..deck height, heads decked or differing in rocker shaft saddle height, lifter bore placement..

If the deck height actually differs by .025, IMO that would be excessive for a factory block. FWIW, I equalized my S2 block's deck heights and they were off by around .010" from side to side, with one side twisted by about .008", as I recall. It had been previously repaired and decked, however.

Is this something that the cause should be found and corrected ? Would this throw off the valve train geometry ?
