What's the difference between the two turbos. Both being journal bearing & both having the .85 ex. Housing. & would my car gain any more power in the 1/4 mile at the same 28 psi boost -using my same ptc nl 3ooo conv ....No other changes. Just a turbo swap. Between those turbos & my current 6765 cea .85 journal bearing turbo that's already on my car right now that I'm using. My mph is @128 at 28psi . The combo is 4.1 - Ported irons-215/220 hyd roller - 80s & alky -5.7tt chip. Thanks for all of your help guys.

7168 is the 71 gtq .. old 71mm was rated 880hp
the 71HPQ makes some serious HP
has same exhaust but has a new larger housing on the cold side 4"in 3 out with the HP compressor wheel
..,new 71HPQH is rated at 975! exceeds all the old turbos including the 76gtq

i have the 71HPQH journal 3bolt .85 exhaust on my 86 with same cam as you , irons (basic cleanup behind the valve) and ptc 9.5 19 blade th400 3" downpipe with atr 3" duals , 83s , 93 and alky running around 65% injector duty .
old 7168S (4in 2.5 out 70 ar cold side ) i hit 135 .. new 71hpq 144 at 29psi

and on my 87 i have the 71hpq journal that i converted over to 4 bolt with .81 exhaust housing 3.5" downpipe dual 2.75 exhaust . lighter car more cam , bigger heads , 20 blade ptc th400 .. 139 at 20.5psi..lots more to go ... picked up almost 10mph vs older turbonetics 72P

fwiw we had the PTE 6765 (from bison) on a 3.8 235cube with champ iron heads (bison reworked the spring package) champ ported stock intake ,224 billet roller, 93 alky, cotton fmic, th400 ptc 18blade and on a soft hit (1.45 60') managed 9.90 137 with 26psi at 3450#

Thank you so much for the quick response . I had to ask because I was wondering about that 7168 turbo that's for sale . But now I know that I need the 71 HPQ. & also to get something better than my TT 5.7 set up . I'm glad I asked before I bought that 6871 from precision .

the newest precision 6870 ball bearing is supposed to surpass the 71hpqh
