Does your car have the resistor in the ignition key? If so, the little wires that connect the ignition switch to the VATS module may be broken. When you turn the tumbler the wires get pulled and crimped. I've seen this on a few cars. The cars will start, but only run for a few seconds.

I agree, Machining isn't going to make near as much heat as a panic stop at 60 mph in a 3600 lb. car. I've machined rotors and have never had them glowing red like I've seen them through the wheel after spirited driving.

Can you set the alcky to come on under no boost? Because if you leaned that motor out and jumped the timing up four to six degrees you would tell a difference. You would have to have some sort of tuning device though. I bet with alcohol and proper tuning you could gain 20hp or so.

LS1's with a convertor, tires, and only a 150 shot typically go 7.5 around here. But, they are capable of running bigger shots than people think. The guy may have a 250 shot, so watch out next time. The fastest stock bottom end (even the stock hyp pistons) has gone 9.6Xs 325hp shot!!!! :eek:

You will have to drop something a little, timing or boost. But it will probably make the same power with less of either.

Snow Performance sells little 8 oz bottles of nitromethane to be used with their alky kits. They claim 60hp gain on a test car. The car was a 900hp turbo v8 mustang though. You use the whole bottle when you fill up the systems res. It is about a 25% mixture.

The Quality of the job? :confused: With the upper (under the valve cover) head studs out, it is very easy to install the head as well. In fact I would say, that the quality of the job is improved. With the lower head studs in place it is impossible to set the head down on the deck crooked...

Why does everyone still think you have to pull the motor to take heads off of a studded engine? All new ARP head studs come with an internal hex (allen) in the top. And the studs into the block should only be at 5 ft/lbs, so they're actually pretty easy to remove.

NGK also has 55's. As in between 5 & 6
