    Lockup not Actually Locking

Have a fairly fresh fairly stock 200-4r, works perfectly except lockup. D5 converter. Manually switched, new solenoid, tested in place with the pan off and blowing into it -- plunger moves. On the road -- no lockup. Missing O-ring on input shaft? If this is the case, what happens to the fluid...

    Odd Main Bearing Issue

Pulled the pan on a buddy's new TTA tonight to change the rear main seal for him and clean out the pan/pickup. He had blown a headgasket due to a faulty fuel pressure regulator and I wanted to check the bearings anyways. I found all the bearings to look worn but not what I would call...

    Turbo Failure

So I recently had my TE61 rebuilt by a reputable local turbo shop, seal was leaking. Shaft play wasn't bad. Engine ran fine although smoked at idle from the turbo seal. After they had rebuilt it they showed me where something had gone thru the wheel (put in a new one) and advised I check out the...

    Correcting Front Suspension

So after driving the Z28 for a year I really enjoyed the handling, and now that it's sold I'd like to upgrade the T-Type so it drives better. I've got Bilsteins and Eibach springs to install, tubular rear control arms, and now it's time to address the front end. I'm planning the 12"...

Runs Rough After Changing Header Gaskets

So . . . changed header gaskets last week, screwed it all back together and voila . . . runs like crap, as if it had a bad MAF or something. Poor idle, sputters at throttle tip-in, etc. All sensors and wiring hooked up properly (had this car apart lots of times, I know what goes where.) Any...

Engine Builders Please Take a Look

So as per my earlier post, my suspected headgasket turned out to be not. When I disassembled the valvetrain I found that the intake valve seal was ripped on #3, probably introducing oil to the chamber and causing the mess on the piston, etc. Burn looks OK otherwise. However, 2 questions...

    Headgasket?

Pulled things apart tonight to change to TA headers & found turbine wheel to be WHITE. Pulled off the old headers, all white inside. Check the exhaust ports, backs of all the valves have a touch of it, but #3 is pretty much all white. Car ran fine, really no other signs. Do we all agree that...

    Big Tire Bump Steer

After bolting on some 245/45R17 rubber my 86 T-Type bump steers and follows the road ruts BAD. All the bushings are pretty new and the alignment is set to factory-type specs with 2.5-3 degress caster. Tracking is OK on flat roads but not great. This thing is so flighty around town I'm afraid to...

    Boost Spike

What would cause a boost spike on a dead stock setup? Shoots up to 17 or 18 psi in first, then settles to 14 psi, then spikes on each shift to 16 or 17 psi.

    Good turbo w/stock converter?

I've been running a TE61 with a 3000 stall converter for a couple of years now and love the way it pulls. However, I've also been driving a couple of stock cars and miss the stock D5 for its feel around town. Is there a newer turbo that will spool decently with a D5 and pull like the 61?

    Can't set up my RJC

Put on an RJC Boost Controller and I can't seem to get the boost I'd like out of it. 1/4" tension on the wastegate rod, RJC halfway in = lazy 15 psi. RJC cranked right down almost tight = lazy 17 psi, with a spike to 22. Controller is new. Car is an 86 T with TE-61 & FMIC, Mease downpipe, 3000...
