The car is a 78 2 bbl turbo which by its rarity, I would like to keep it mainly original.

    Turbo control center WTB

Since this part is only used on the early turbo cars, I'll post here. Need the ESC Turbo controller box. I have not seen one on ebay and thought if someone sees one in a junkyard, has a spare etc. Let me know

    78 Turbo 2bbl

Thanks to all for your comments/advice. The blue smoke is always at highway speed, never at startup, which made me think originally that it wasn't the valve seals. Right now I will pull the valve covers and see what is lurking under there. This would just be a few days that the car will...

    78 Turbo 2bbl

I did not think of that. I guess I'm thinking of the worst case scenario-- bad rings.... I plan on doing compression and leak down tests. If that comes out ok, then at least the heads will be replaced with newer ones that have been re-done. Is it common for the pre-'79 heads to get that...

    78 Turbo 2bbl

I recently acquired a 1978 Regal with the 2 bbl turbo setup. For the money ($1000) I couldn't pass it up. I originally wasn't sure of the shape and was going to use this as a parts car. To my surprise, low miles elderly owned and mostly everything intact. The interior needed cleaned up a...

    ESC Relay

I have no ties to this company, but I just ordered a new relay for the ESC Quick and reasonably inexpensive. Exact replacement. 12 VDC 15 Amp Contact Relay - SK2044

    Help with Frame OFF

Get 2 spare "donuts" from the junkyard. Mount them on the rear wheels to lower the rear so the frame hump clears the floor pan. You won'thave to lift the body as high either

    anyone have engine pics?

Click on the link below. The top pics are for the Riviera (FWD/longitudinal mounted) Photo at bottom of link is the RWD version: in 1979 Buick brochure http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/pictureguides/blocks/carbedmotor.html

    Is this a good deal?

Based on the pictures, that is for a draw thru /carb set up. Without the part numbers, it is difficult to tell whether this would be for a carb/turbo 301 V8 or the Buick V6 (there is a difference). The intercooler won't work. THe Hobbs switch would be good for an alcohol/water injection set up

Nice ride Fred, This is one nice lookin' ride. I showed these to my 22 month old and he liked your car. His response was "VROOM VROOM" My 8 month old son was mesmerized. (no kidding.) I guess I have two little "gearheads in training" Best of luck with the GN. I still hope that...

    G-body Pontiac motor Mounts?

Up to 1969 Pontiac used 2 bolts to attach the mounts. 3 bolt mounts went from 1970 on. You may want to pose the question to the folks at www.poci.org There were some blocks that could use both the 3 bolt and 2 bolt mounts and some that may have required adapters depending on the...

    4100 intake

The Caddy 4100 with TBI that you refer to is an 8 cylinder (also known as the HT4100 with Digital Fuel Injection). Caddies from 80-82 did use the 4.1 V6 (252 cu in) Buick motor. Two totally different animals. If you still need to see the intakes let me know, I'll see what I can do.

    Am I the only one??

The other part of this particular group, and I think it was hinted at earlier is that its about good old fashioned hands on "hot-rodding." Tuning and tweaking and a little bit of grease is much better than burning a chip. I saw Fred's car up in CT when I was visiting my family last year. The...

    Am I the only one??

You're not the only one. I agree 100%. I was originally interested in 84-87 turbo, but I got hooked on the early turbo cars because they were essentially the "pioneers." Rich George and Fred Carrado have been extremely helpful to me personally. And when a new person comes aboard, they may ask...

    301T owners defend your engine!

I'm glad to see that the Quad 4 is listed. Not only is this engine a piece, but fixing the garbage that breaks (ie head gasket/ water pump change) made me want to run the car down the hill and into a tree. The Chrysler/Mitsu 3.0 engine is pretty junky. I like the "Uncle Buck trail of oil...
