Power Steering Pump from Summit Racing

Yep, still works perfect. However, I can’t say how it will perform with a Hydroboost setup. I’ve heard even healthy stock pumps can have a whine after converting to a hydro setup. Lots a variables can play in that, I would suggest talking to some folks that have the hydro brake setup and see...

Power Steering Pump from Summit Racing

You need to make sure it’s a reverse rotation pump for the 86/87 cars. Most the pumps now from parts stores or shipping from warehouses are not the right rotation even though they’re listed for an 86/87 GN. I recently replaced one with a Lares pump from Rock Auto (part number was 12309 for the...

    Kirbans Performance

I’ve had issues too. Ordered a P/S pump, received the wrong rotation pump from their supplier, should have been an easy fix but unfortunately it was in the midst of this whole transition. I was in contact with Christina then nothing, can’t get ahold of anyone and no replies to messages and...

Car is shutting off when driving

Did you check fuel pressure and confirm the fuel pump is running when this happens? If you have no fuel pressure or don’t hear the pump run, try bypassing the Hotwire kit relay(plug the factory fuel pump wiring back together at the tank) next time it happens. I had this exact problem and it was...

    GN on 270 in MD

Wondering if this mad man with big cajones is on here. I spotted a GN this morning on 270 South driving in the rain, in the middle of rush hour, with a severe thunderstorm watch and tornado warnings out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

No clunk, it makes the binding screech/squeal and won't run.

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

Shipping off the converter was easier and the vendor offered to go through it for free so I did that first. He did find that the adapter ring bolts were loose, but apparently was not the cause of my issue.

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

Welp...not the converter, just took it for a longer drive and same thing happened. Definitely heat related I think since it doesn't happen unless I drive the car for a while, more than 30 minutes it seems. When it happens, it's when the car slows and comes back down to idle, driving at speed...

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

Quick update, I was finally able to pull the trans and converter and send the converter back to the vendor. Sounds like there was something loose, honestly don't remember exactly what was said, I'll try to get a better run down of what was found. Anyway, he's taking care of it. I'm hoping that...

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

Thanks for the input guys. I'll drop the pan and see if there is anything obvious. If not, I'm probably just pulling the converter, my bets on that. It's the new piece in the equation, I didnt have any problems with the trans before it got parked. I'll send it back in and have it checked out...

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

I thought about that too Nick, it's just seems so random I'm not sure when it will happen. I'll have to think through the best way to try to do that.

    Help needed, loud screeching noise

Didn't even know what to call this thread but I need help guys, I'm at a loss. Motor just went back in, heads/roller cam setup, new converter....First fire up went smooth no issue, no weird noises, good oil pressure. After sitting running for a while I was adding some trans fluid and it makes...

Noise is driving me f****** nuts!!!

Does it go away if you run it with the belt off? If so start with easy stuff, check the window on your tensioner, your belt could be too long. Check pulleys, possibly the accessories bracket could be loose as well.

NEW PRODUCT- Cam Sensor Balancer Kit from Richard Clark and Turbo Nasty

Thanks for covering that, plenty of mechanical aptitude but inexperienced with bushings in something like that. I had plenty of ideas that would probably work but my fear was damaging the housing. That's why I asked the professionals. The rest of the rebuild was very easy and the videos explain...

NEW PRODUCT- Cam Sensor Balancer Kit from Richard Clark and Turbo Nasty

Wondering this myself, it's the last thing that needs to be done. I don't have a press and the local machine shop was worried about damaging the housing and doesn't want to do it.
