    GNX hat

There wasn’t an official hat if that’s what you’re after. Only a jacket and numbered book.

    Paint on GNX/GN

No it was single stage black lacquer. On your cowl tag it will say lacquer. No clear coat. If you do single stage go with PPG 9300. If you do base/clear use 9700. Those are the blackest blacks that match perfectly. If you do 9700 single stage it will be slightly brown. 9000 is the brownest...

Replicating original battery and A/C accumulator/drier

Except for the green eye these are the decals from Jan Larsson. When the compressor fails it can send shrapnel through the lines. If you don’t replace the drier some of that shrapnel that may be trapped in the drier can take out your new compressor.

Replicating original battery and A/C accumulator/drier

Bored so I thought I would try to replicate the original battery since my current one gave up the ghost and I had some decals laying around waiting for the right time. Also a few years back I repaired and converted to 134a my A/C system so it would work due to a compressor shaft seal leak...

GNX #003 sells for $115k at BJ

Isn't that strong money for an 11K mile example that was ridden hard and put up wet? It was used and abused by many magazines as an intro and promotion car then it sat for 20 plus years. It is cool that it was the first one sold at retail basically as a well used demo, and appeared in many...

Can you use an original GN clip on speedometer cable with GNX style dash

I am working on a restomod GN and am in the process of doing an instrument cluster install. I have a GNX style dash with a threaded speedometer connector on the backside. The dash insert has SW gauges. I have a cable that is for the normal GN dash that is a clip on and is not threaded. Is...

    Original Part Numbers Needed

I'm doing a restoration and am looking for some original part numbers so I can try and find some NOS parts. Unfortunately I don't have a 44W catalog. Is there anyone out there that has access to one that can help?

OEM GNX turbo, intercooler, exhaust new in OEM boxes

GNX exhaust is the same as a 442 Hurst or GT Cutlass of the same vintage. Not all that special. JMHO, but I would put a $5K-$6K value on the lot.

To paint or not to paint is the question?

No clear coat on these. Single stage lacquer. Paint condition sounds typical of an original GN/X with those miles and age. If it's a keeper I say paint it and enjoy. If not and it drives you nuts sell it and search for one that suits you better. Maybe one with a few more miles but a newer...

    GNX wheels real or not?

The front and rear wheels were custom made for the GNX by JWC. The wheels are labeled "Rear Only" and "Front Only". The front wheels are stamped "-15" and the rears "-23", which is in millimeters. Here's a pic of the front: Backspacing from the deck of inner hub to the outer most lip in the...

    Rusted mufflers killing me.

I think your best bet is to find a good used system from an 1983-88 Hurst Olds or 442 or Cutlass GT from a dry climate and get the mufflers from that. They are the same. Here's an NOS one on ebay not cheap but nevertheless...

Anyone else found anything unusual or interesting in a GNX?

It's attached to my workbench in the pics, but it was hooked into one of the slots in the roof in the front of the car when I dropped the headliner. Very neat to find. I wonder if it was someone's task or if a computer was required to drill individual holes in a flat piece of thick metal stock...
