Running into problem after changing shifter cable

Original shifter and I’m assuming original shifter cable. Not the original tranni. Took out the new cable and measured. Same length. Put the new shifter cable back in. Made sure the shifter was all the way back, a little play, not much. Put the tranni in the park position and tightened the cable...

Running into problem after changing shifter cable

Hi all. Looking for some guidance. I just replaced my shifter cable purchased from Kirbans. The cable I took out looked slightly shorter. I was concerned but I put the new cable in anyway. I went through all the gears and back to park but it won’t go to park on the selector. Same thing when it’s...

No oil through pushrods while priming

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. I'm going to remove the right valve cover just to confirm that oil is getting to the right side. So close to firing up the motor! Another weekend gone!

No oil through pushrods while priming

I have a vdo electric. With the ignition on while /upriming it reads 50 lbs. Right now the crank is set at 25 degrees so after priming was complete I could set my can sensor

No oil through pushrods while priming

Did not check both sides. I'm trying to avoid removing the passenger side cause it's a pain to get the cover off and on with the valve cover spacers. It's a 4.1. Casting 2551429. Just took off the oil feed line to the turbo and primed. Oil came flying out. The build was done a year ago. Is it...

No oil through pushrods while priming

Hi all. New motor rebuild with roller cam and adjustable rockers. Started priming with a 1/2" drill. Packed the pump with vasoline. Definitely feel the stress on the drill which tells me I'm getting pressure. At it for 5 minutes and no oil up to the heads. I pull off the left valve cover to...

Looking for turbo oil drain to oil pan photos

Thanks for the reference photos!! From reading other threads also it sounds like the turbo oil drain should have dumped into the oil pan from the factory.

Looking for turbo oil drain to oil pan photos

That would be great if you can get a few pictures. I appreciate your opinion. With that said, why did you make the decision for the drain to dump into the pan?

Looking for turbo oil drain to oil pan photos

The 3.8 has a much thicker wall where the oil drain is tapped, almost like a boss was cast directly into the block which is why he has concern.

Looking for turbo oil drain to oil pan photos

I'm in the middle of building a 4.1. The machinist is against trying to drill and tap for the turbo oil drain into the block because he was concerned of the block cracking while attempting to tap. I have read on these forums that the turbo oil drain can be brought down to the oil pan so I'd like...

    thoughts on cylinder sleeves

Turbofabricator got my blood pumping!! Not much needs to be changed going from a 3.8 to a 4.1. Picked up a 4.1 last week and is in the shop for a rebuild. My original motor can be salvaged. 4 of 6 cylinders need to be sleeved. The original block, I'll go as far as getting the sleeves properly...

    thoughts on cylinder sleeves

I'm leaning toward getting another block and putting the original aside and eventually repair later just in case I decide to make original again. I think I would have piece of mind with a new block. I did speak to a machine shop. He suggested to bore out the cylinder. I told him that the motor...

    thoughts on cylinder sleeves

Has anyone had experience or have an opinion with using cylinder sleeves? I need to make a decision on whether to sleeve my original motor or go with a new block. My motor did have some modifications but I wouldn't consider the build crazy. Larger turbo, cam, Champion heads. Thanks.

Hi. It was recommended that you might be able to steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for a legit good machine shop that hopefully can salvage my motor. My motor was a rebuild and the shop screwed up big time. I'm in CT also. Let me know the most convenient way to contact you. Thanks, Andy

looking for a good machine shop

I had the motor built 11 years ago. Life threw me some curveballs ( baby, starting a business, moving) so I put my car aside due to other priorities. Last year I finally got my car complete and fired it up. I got concerned that I started to see some smoke out of my rear view mirror when I got on...

looking for a good machine shop

Looking for some guidance. Very long story short I need to get my motor hopefully rebuilt after just 300 miles on a new rebuild. I dropped my oil pan to change the gasket and I see the pins that connect the piston to the rod slid out and have cut into the cylinders, 4 of 6 banks are like this...
