Ram windshield

I peeled off the village window sticker off my Ram this morning and after a quarter of the way off it started peeling off a clear film from the inside of the windshield. When I finally got done I had a 4" square missing this clear film. I have been changing these stickers for 23 years and have never ran across this before or even heard of this.
What's the deal?
