Power Steering Pump - Aluminum Pump from Another GM Car?

I spoke with Lee about a week ago. The lighter 670 box is not readily available anymore. Turn One still lists a 5lb lighter steering box on their website.

Scott W @ GNS just mentioned that he has access to some 600 series steering boxes for $760? Not sure from where though.

every LT1 used the same pump- so get one for a 92-96 Vette, a 93-97 F body, or 94-96 B body..
but i don't see what the benefit would be, since they are probably the same pump as a GN..
So just so I understand correctly all the vehicles above use aluminum power steering pumps that will bolt on to our motor

Don't think those have an aluminum housing. All are cast iron. Are you in need of a pump?
All that's left are Cardone remans. You can send your pump to Lee Steering in CA for a rebuild.

Jones and Turn One can sell you a new aluminum pump but they need a few parts out of your original. These parts are no longer made and allow the pump to work counterclockwise.

I've dealt with Lee and Turn One, both are great companies to do business with. Lee rebuilt a pump with AN fittings for $150.
Turn One built a new aluminum bodied pump with AN fittings for $350. Both dyno the pumps before they leave.

Ok got it.. Thanks

I'm still not clear. If I hit the wrecking yard or other sources a pump off one of the cars on the list will rotate in the correct rotation for our car?

As long as it's a type II style GM pump with a smooth pulley. Smooth pulley without the ribs usually indicates a counterclockwise turn.

The Corvette (above pic) style may or may not work. Tube might have to be modified.

I dont think mine has a tube like that. Is that for the return to the reservoir?

But now that I look at this pic maybe it does have that tube on it. But then I look again and that is the steering box. I might just need my eyes checked. haha

A stock TR pump won't have the long tube just the Corvette pumps. It is a low pressure so you can use a hose clamp.

Which part is confusing?

Doubt your going to find a correct pump in a salvage yard. Cardone rebuilds from AutoZone are like $60 with a core with a warranty.

Can we get a part #. I'm going to get one to put on the shelf.
