i'd try to source a different fitting from another vendor such as McMaster Carr, Parker, NAPA, maybe the taper on the threads or where the threads start in relation to the fitting would be different to see if you could find one that tightens enough in the proper position.
Also depends upon...
Look for this connector behind the glove box covered in gray foam. Pink wire you see I bypassed the connector with a splice provides power to the ECM.
That's where my intermittent car dying while driving problem was.
All I had to do was idle the car in the driveway and wiggle each wire at each...
Found this while looking for the baritone original version also 1949.
One of my fathers favorite singers, almost as good as "Holly Jolly Christmas". ;)
At the A.C. cut out relay connector, pink/blk wire goes to ecm/sol fuse, the wire has +12 on it with key in RUN, BULB TEST, or START.
Light blue wire should have the same +12 on it as found at the accumulator jumped cycling switch, +12 when A.C. is ON at the control head not sure of those...
If the dark green wire has +12 on it jumped from the light blue wire on the connector of the pressure cycling switch, assuming no freon but controls ON, you should see that +12 on the relay terminal D the light blue wire. Check the ECM/SOL fuse that powers the relay and the ECM grounding...
It's on the car now and with a 3" dual exhaust it's ok, I haven't got the tailpipes on yet, need a lift, and some luck, to get those on. :p
I have a Brookstone little remote control helicopter from the 1990s but no drone.

There is a spot you can disconnect the two haves of the cable near the powermaster location and lube it, it runs downhill to the dash area so not too much spray lithium grease is needed or...
You can take this to the bank, it's the only IACV that Phillips-Maggotvox made that passed all of the GM tests.
It was a robust well designed unit. The subsequent GEN II and GEN III units incorporating more plastic, not so much.
I'm sure an aftermarket computer in the car could take advantage...
Do the front marker lights work when you turn on the tail lamps?
If the front lamps work with the switch and the back don't check the brown wire in the 6 cavity harness connector in the trunk LH rear corner.
