yeah i hear you, i don't think the clutch job on these cars is that easy either. I heard it was a transverse mounted engine (like a fwd with a transfercase for the rear) so changing the clutch involves pulling the front transaxle. either way a pita job.

I don't think you're supose to drop the clutch. You slip the hell out of the clutch if you want a good launch out of a manual tranny 4banger turbo. not as much shock to the drive train, you can hold higher rpm's and build boost faster esp. for AWD.

could the cam sensor be bad without throwing the ecm throwing a code 41?

it will go up to about 800+ but it will almost always be initially very lean. It will also vary alot, sometimes 820+ sometimes 760. I am replacing the fuel filter tomorrow, previous owner ran a few tanks or leaded just before i got the car, just replaced the o2 as well.

I just bought a T type with a scanmaster in the car. I notice that on the highway when i go WOT i initially get some really lean o2 readings. 0xx milivolts. then after 1 or 2 frames later it will read the normal rich reading. Is this just a product of the slow frame rate of the scanmaster or...
