Current Buick Status

New fuel pump went in a few weeks ago, pressure still isn't going up 1:1 ratio, replacing fuel filter next, hope that's it...

Finish putting it back together today with the nice weather.

Good fuel pressure, injector pulse, ecm power checked good. Spark on only two opposing pack posts. Crank and cam sensors checked within tolerance.

Points to ign module, changed with a known good one, same symptoms.

Gonna attack again tonight with the multimeter. It appears the drivers area bulkhead connector has been disturbed so we'll see.

Check the connections, I've replaced a bunch of mine on the wiring harness. Caspers Electronics has all of them.

I'm going slow with this, I want to be thorough. I already squeezed some female pins on the connectors to make better contact. Some look rough. Thanks.

The ECM connection was the mother of all connections to replace! Good luck with the trouble shooting!

Chuck I have those lines on my car. Far as my current status; had fuel pump issues right before Cecil. Wiring in the tank burned up from excess voltage from the hotwire and stealth 340 pump. Located an upgraded racetronix intermediate harness, fixed it and broke down on the way there due to me pinching the return line putting the tank back in. Luckily got it corrected, changed the oil and made it to the track. Currently have a head stud leaking coolant that I need to address and a boost leash controller to install before spring.
I don't think you had "excess voltage". I had two hangers fail within 6 months of each other. So far the Racetronix harness is working for me too. You can also eliminate that bulkhead by splicing new wires together and running them through a rubber grommet on top of the hanger. Maybe seal it with a dab of silicone. Nick Mchale said he has seen many failures lately, too.

Current status is that speed traps are setup all times of the day even 8:30 Saturday mornings.... Fueling issue is history, tune is pretty close except 15-25 lbs boost, area on the speed density 2 chip (this was the area being tuned when things got expensive). It's holding my programed 10.8 air fuel ratio (spraying alky) on the wideband it's just correcting more than I like at the moment easy fix once I get back out on the road with it. Car is running the best it has in a long time, fresh upgraded 6262 turbo and built/fresh transmission both thanks to Bison. My wiring issues at the ECM are history. My son's are all out on their own except for Andrew, so I don't really need the back seat anymore and since it's a 84 it's only worth like $3k anyway. Is it time to take the car to the next level and drop more money in the car? One, two and three why no it's not, I'm happy with the current power level, I'm happy with the current power level, I'm happy with the current power level....

Any update?

Third LM9 Module finally got the car to start successfully more than once. It seemed to be a grounding issue on the bracket if I put some pressure on the 14 pin connector it would die out. I pinched the 14 pin connector female pins a bit so I'm sure there's good contact, but same result. I removed the bracket and wire brushed the mounting hardware and bracket mating surfaces, reinstalled and viola! A consistent start and good indications all over.

Ultimately, bracket not grounding to the block and some loose connections in the 14 pin. I'll slowly swap out my other parts to verify if they work but its a solid fix.

The stock and new replacement stock hangers use wiring that is to small of gauge. When you add in a hotwire and a pump that demands more voltage, the wiring can and will fail. Surprised it didn't burn the car down. Racetronix stopped selling the upgraded harness for the pump hanger. Was lucky a friend had one for a TTA that I made work. Only solution now is to buy the complete Racetronix pump/hanger that includes all new wiring.

Car is down at Andersons now getting a boost leash installed along with a general front to back going over before this season gets under way. I'll be at Kirbans and Richard Clarks, but unsure if the car will be at either.

Fresh window tint all around yesterday, the back window tint started to lift so it all got replaced, went with 20% (amount of light allowed to pass through) hope the local police let me slide....

Running good lately, have a leaky heater core dripping on the dp. Parts should arrive next week.
