speedway and g body parts control arm users, please help

That's what I was thinking but been over the front end a bunch or times. Everything is tight. Alignment is better than it's ever been. I'm going to switch it back to stock and see what happens.

Def let us know. I'm thinking of using the speedways this spring. Sorry to hear about the bump jerk.

Bump steer is a function of the knuckles and steering linkage, not the upper or lower arms. If you didn't have the linkage attached the knuckle would move up and down in a perpendicular plane but with the third location (linkage) they move in and out as the arms go up and down. To fix this you'll need a bump steer correction kit.

Maybe that the front end is tighter now than ever and u can feel those bumps where as before stock rubber bushings aborbed it.

I put speedways..lower aluminum control arm bushings on mine and it does pick up more road feel, but I have wider front tires. Pretty noticeable on rough roads but very nice on smooth roads.

I've got GBody's tubular upper A Arms ( with 1/2" taller ball joints) & UMI's tubular lower A Arms with Delrin Bushings. Had em installed this summer.
I am extremely happy with the ride / steering improvement. No such issues here.

Like Charlie mentioned, a bump steer correction kit should fix any issues. I am considering going this route over the winter.
I understand there are a few different choices of these bump steer correction kits. Can anyone list a few. Any recommendations?

thanks in advance.

dave

Here's the ones from Speedway. You can get different length ones but this is the stock replacement ones. You will need to set everything up on the car and use a dial indicator on the rotor to set the stud on the knuckle properly since each set up is slightly different.

Bump steer correction tie rod kit part number 910-32800, 18.5" long, Stud kit for bump stop correction kit part number 916-36055GM, Seals for outer tie rods available from speedway 910-01504

Id still like to know if there is a delrin or rubber bushing option for the speedway arms if anyone has a part# i would appreciate it

There is no option. Only choice is 8in or 8.5 in. Sorry I don't have a part number.

Yesterday I swapped out the speedway upper A arms back to stock. What a difference. Bump jerk was eliminated. The car drives so much better. The speedways had to be flexing or the geometry is off. Either way I would not recommend them to anyone.

I told ya you would see a difference! ;)

So is it safe to say Speedway is junk?

Safe to say they did not work for Rick, but some of us have not had issues. I have two cars with them.

X2

Have GBody's tubular uppers & UMI Tubular Lowers with Delrin bushing & no issues here. :)

I don't know exactly why I had a problem while others have good results. I know the load on the ball joint is at a drastic angle due to the flat design of the arm. Other aftermarkets are designed more like stock where the tubing is contoured and the ball joint saddle is pimped up slightly to more center the load on the joint.

If you put a stock arm next to a speedway you can see what I mean. I'll try and snap some pics later.

Well they are not junk per say but I honestly do not think they were intended for our cars! Some found out that they would "Fit" and went with that. Anytime you have to take an upper A-arm and buy two of one side and flip the other over so it fit's one side Is NOT a good idea Period! If you are going to buy a tubular A-arm why not do it right the first time and not cobble parts together because it's cheaper? Why not save a little bit longer to do it right the first time, after all it is also your safety your cheaping out on.. Good aftermarket companies like DSE, RideTech, Hotckis, UMI, all have done extensive testing in the development of their products to correct the geometry issues associated with these cars and people are buying upper A-arms from a Dirt track supply house that were intended for dirt track use? All because they are cheaper? I truly believe when it comes to suspension products, You get what you pay for!

Cheaper isn't always better, better isn't always cheaper!

Both Speedway & G-Body's were not designed to improve the geometry issues with these cars, yes they are pretty much identical. But they are cheap!
