Interior Color Change

Scot... that looks AWESOME... cant wait to see it all done.... I wish i had the balls to change out my Limited interior..... maybe one day i will get my wife a T so i can change things up a lil:biggrin:

Those seats are going to look nice with the suede inserts.

Trunk kit with a new twist eh? I wonder what's up your sleeve.
Thanks John I think the inserts will look good too. I will give you a hint on the twist, Let's just say "Embroidery is Old Hat"!! ;)

One has to move forward with grace while still keeping things tasteful. Using the same old', same old' there can only be SO Many ways to cut a Tomato before you end up seeing every way....

Thanks Bud!

It will look A LOT better in person as the damn flash does funky things to the material. The suede looks almost brown in the pic's but in person it's a nice black.

For a minute there I thought I was nuts to be doing this but now I have NO regrets. You know, sometimes you have to step outside the box of "Normal" in order to move forward in the Hobby. I truely admire people when they get creative and try something that hasn't been done or create something new..

Now I have to motivate myself to get the rest of my winter list done (Methanol kit, Lower the car, Trans cooler, New windshield, Trunk kit) so I can tackle other projects..

Thanks Aaron!

Damn, Scot... That looks AWESOME! I had entertained the idea of an all black interior as well. Having seen yours, I may have to look into this further.

You're going to hell for this! j/k

I like thinking out of the box and your pics look pretty good but I'm not a huge fan or the all black interior. It kinda reminds me of a Monte interior. I did the interior color change from tan to black in my camaro when I was younger and never looked right. Maybe I'm ruined by that.

Nevertheless, your work looks to be well executed and it's your car so you can do whatever you please.

Rock on:cool:

Thanks!

Maybe it was just the car that never looked right? LOL J/K.. It's VERY EASY to go overboard on a certian color or fabric that ends up in the Gawdy zone! The key is to have an equal amount of something to contrast against the black, because TOO MUCH black would not look good at all.. I'm just looking at the interior trying to keep a nice balance.

SEATBELTS?

I'm sure it will be asked sooner or later so I will post up what I done with the "stock" seat belts.

After a bunch of searching for BLK seat belts for the car I said "Forget it" It's almost impossible... so I decided to

Dye them!

Yep, I just used the same SEM dye that I used on the rest of the car and the results were awesome!

** You must paint in steps of 1-2 ft at a time dying both sides. I pulled the belts out 100% and locked it in that position then I dyed 2ft on one side then the same 2ft on the other side DOING A "LIGHT" MIST COAT. I now waited 10-20min to tach dry then repeted this a total of 4 times. After my 4 "MIST" coats were done then I done 2 thicker coats to make sure. Now you can let that section you just dyed roll back into the seat belt carier and your ready for the Next 2 ft section. Keep doing this untill your done and they will look just fine!

NOTE: I found out that the thiner you go on the dye the LESS stiff the belts are when it dries. On my first belt I done I layed the dye on pretty thick and let it "Soak in" and the belt was sitiffer than the original belt, Not a biggie at all and it's really not too bad.

Alright- Fess up about where that console compartment/armrest came from!!!

John

I thought so about the SEM. I used their vinyl/leather prep and their sand free primer and painted my center console and gauge pod satin black. I am moving slowly but surely since i only get to work on it 1 day out of the week:eek:

I am also stealing/stole some ideas from member who's username is zam70 :
Zam-mobile/old pictures from cars photos on webshots

Here are some shots of my console:

Scott, I admire that you want to be different! I think it looks absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also think having a white car is going make the interior POP. Very cool man!

Thanks Tom & Jerremy!

Stay tuned for pictures of the seats hopefully monday. The interior is 95% installed and finished. I still need to hide a few things and install some stuff then I can button everything up.

I will be sure to take a bunch of pictures of the complete interior when it's all done.

Hi BW,

They are from Summit and they are the ProCar ELITE 1000 seats. They are now getting the Suede inserts sewn in.

98% of all my other cars had Black interiors and they are not too bad. I bet the new seats won't be any hotter than the old leather pillow back seats that came out of it! Leather & sun don't go well together, Neither does leather and the Cold!!

Up date pic's coming soon.

Scot, ProCar seats? May i ask why the change of plans?

Looking AWESOME so far!!!!
Thanks Sal! Yep! ProCar ELITE 1000 seats.. The reason for the change is just to have a stiffer seat, Newer seat plus they came already covered in black so all I had to do was change out the inserts to The suede then I covered the back seats to match the fronts.

The Mustang GT seats will be for sale if anyone is intrested, I'll take $100 for both front buckets and they were made by Recaro back in 1985.

The seats are now all done and I will be posting pictures tonight!! ;)
