Rear main seal
Got it all pulled apart tonight. Seal was leakin like a sieve. Took about 3 hrs. to get it all apart, no lift yet
Not quite like working on my GN..Now my question is to Pin or not to Pin? Opinions? I used them when I did my GN, but have heard of people not using them, and then others that dont even use the rubber strips in the cavities and use just RTV like GM did... |

rear seal
When I did mine I did not use the rubber blocks on the side. I just put the main cap on and used a pressurized can of the right stuff (black rtv ) available at pep boys or advance auto etc. I left the cap loose and in place and held it up to the hole and filled it until it started oozing out at the bottom of the cap. do both sdes and then torque cap to spec. My seal has been leak free for over 2000 miles so far and I am running mobil 1 full synthetic.
