Keys

My 4 year old "hid" my only set of keys to my TTA and can't remember where he put them. The car is locked sitting on my car trailer and I need to get it off so my brother can use it to haul some wood. I searched the whole house with no luck. How can I get new keys made? I know they had a chip in the key so I am sure this will be expensive. Any advice will be welcome. Thanks,AJ

I would try the dealer with your VIN, although due to the age of the car its hit or miss wether or not the info is on file. When I lost the only set of keys to my 91 Vette awhile back, GM had the cut for the door and ignition key on file, but unfortunately they did not have the VATS (resistor in key) code on file. A locksmith also might be able to help. Some have a tool called a VATS interrogator that can duplicate each of the 15 possible VATS codes.
