Ever closer to the 9's

Took the TTA out to the track tonight to try out the new 4" exhaust and 3" up pipe I installed last week. She's breathing now. I love peoples reaction to this car when I pull in to the pits. They're shocked it's a little V6. Stock wheels, stock intercooler, factory block, factory iron heads, factory intake, cold A/C, and looks like I drove it off the lot back in '89. Here's some numbers from one of my runs. A personal best. I am very pleased with the way she's running. Getting faster every time as my compfort level increases. Not quite used to launching a car so hard that it pulls my foot off the gas pedal from the G forces!

R/T ... .667
60' ... 1.524
330' ... 4.277
1/8 ... 6.595
MPH ... 105.79
1000' ... 8.611
1/4 ... 10.333
MPH ... 130.05

Well, I tell you. It's a combination of patients, money, time, and learning to tune. I use the FAST XFI. 70mm turbo. ATI TH400 trans w/ non-lock up converter and trans brake. Champion ported heads. Alky control kit. Comp Cams roller. ATR down pipe. Moser rear. Spohn torqe arm. Mufflex 4" exhaust. M/T ET street tires. And a bunch of other stuff I can't even remember. The only guage I have in the car is a boost guage. I also use a shift light. All my other info comes from my laptop data logger..... I have to thank Anderson Performance for building alot of the car. It's been a long process, but well worth the wait. I will snap some good pics of the car this weekend when the sun is shinning and I wash all the shoe polish off.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really love my TTA. I have wanted to own one since they came out in 1989. I was only in high school at the time and I was learning about the power of turbo boost. I was lucky enough to be in the family business and work at a GMC dealership when the Syclone/Typhoon's came out. I got ahold of a '92 Typhoon and the turbo addiction began..... A buddy of mine worked on GN's and had a fast 11 sec. stock turbo T-type. One night, at his shop, we were working on my Typhoon and someone from North Carolina drove his TTA up to Maryland to have some work done on it. I sat inside the TTA for the first time and knew someday, I would have one. Now, over sixteen years later, it's a reallity and I could not be happier! Here is the updated Info. I will try to clean her up tommorow and get some good detailed pics posted from underneath the car, up on the lift.

Those pictures are going to cost me a lot of money over the next few years. Now I want to do more modifications to my car. Your car really looks great!

Do you drive the car much on the street? With 3.73 gears and a 3 spd transmission I wouldn't imagine it would be much of a highway cruizer anymore.

Congratulation on your times. This gives me something to shoot for!

Very nice! I have one question, Did you put the roll bar in not to get booted out of the track, or could the car not handle it with just connectors in it? Thanks and congrats again, lets us know when your in the 9's!!!

Thanks everyone. I put the cage in to prevent chassis flex and prevent getting booted. I ran an 11.30 or something last year and got kicked out and I knew I was not finnished with the mods yet. Even though I only make a handfull of passes a year, I decided to go with a cage. It is a full cromoly cage with swingouts and is 8.50 certified. I think it looks good in the car compared to some I've seen. It was not cheap that's for sure. I'm probably done at the track till fall as it's starting to get pretty hot and humid up here. Not Ideal to lay down a good number in a turbo car.

Nah.. go to the track and keep getting frequent flyer miles... and have fun with it. I would set the boost on my TTA to 20 PSI and run high 10's at 124.. and enjoy driving to the track and back.

Come fall.. turn it up.. lay the number
